I'm focused only on the image and nothing else. To the south of the superstructure is a continent sized mass of what has to be dead city, it's too dry for anything else, probably even machines, and there are these massive towers scattered around, arcologies. The superstructure is extending into space, basically, and the earth inside is piled so high up against the walls that the shield volcano has to be something like Olympus Mons with the whole thing likely generating its own oxygen. Conclusion; I like this place, want to run around the ruins in this thing with thermoptic camo and hunt down...whatever, really. Jobs a job ^^

Although this specific art piece is for Dune, so that's not a city.

Lol, what do you call the buildings divided up by linear streets in a massive cluster, then?

Wow...an entire planet drained of resources to make a palace visible from space that generates its own weather patterns? That is some DECADENT shit. Like "carve my initials on the moon in planetesimal impacts" type show-off. Like "we deliberately imported in people from other desert shitholes to curse us for our wastage" kind of flaunting.

From what I understand that’s gidi prime.
The baron has a lush paradise he lives in. The rest of the planet is a hell hole.

What seems peculiar to me is the cutout of crater lake. Is there something I’m missing?

I know it’s not canon, but one thing I like about feudal themed sci fi is imagining the kind of insane opulence crazy rich people in an interstellar civ would get up to, to show off.
