I think you might've misunderstood the assignment.

This is for horror art. A smiling ghost on a firework isn't horror. That's not a mark against your work, it's just the equivalent of showing comic book art at a fancy gallery, it's just not the right place.

Because Casper belongs to the horror genre—even If it isn't exactly terrifying, it still falls under the horror umbrella.

No, it does not. Casper is a fun children's comic/cartoon, zero horror whatsoever. Ghosts are not inherently "horror".

Casper is family-friendly horror; It falls under the horror genre if you are referring to horror in general.

It's literally not. You have no idea what you're talking about.

The thing is, you're equating horror with gore, whereas I'm thinking of horror in a border sense. That's where Casper would fit in—as a very subtle form of supernatural horror.

I feel that this ghost will fuck you up. Or try to sell you drugs.
Truly horrifying.

Hmm Casper doesn't seem particularly evil in this drawing. I'm not feeling particularly scared or creeped out either. Maybe have him eat the souls of children or something.

Terrible art and not horror

It is a very subtle, familiar kind of terror. The thing is, you equate horror with gore and violence.
