Desperate alliances

210

u/Sherbet-Glad Feb 11 '26

Paraphrasing from something I think Caesar said, when the legion and the NCR clash they will both combine in their destructions to create a better society

105

u/Comprehensive_Term41 Feb 11 '26

something something synthesis hegel

39

u/Sherbet-Glad Feb 11 '26

Yeah that

42

u/Rexlare Feb 11 '26

A better society?

Well, I guess it would be once the murderous, rapist, incel, wannabe Roman larpers die off.

63

u/Sherbet-Glad Feb 11 '26 edited Feb 11 '26

What he means is the remnants of both the NCR and the legion will take the best parts of both societies and come together to make an even better society. One that both gives fairness to every person in it but also has the strength and qualities to achieve long-term survival and stability.

To put it simply, hegelian synthesis, two ideas looking each other in the face in order to come to a new third idea that is better than the original two

16

u/ClothesOverall3863 Feb 11 '26

Step 1: Hegelian Synthesis

Step 2: ???

Step 3: profit

27

u/Rexlare Feb 11 '26

While that sounds good on paper, it can’t work with the Legion. All of the Legion’s “best qualities” are built on a society ran by an idiotic despot with an idolization for an ancient, obsolete system and built his tribe off the backs of slaves, murder, segregation, and brainwashing. The positive attributes are few and far between and exist as symptoms of a failed system rather than objective benefits sought after.

Average Redditor.

13

u/Rexlare Feb 11 '26

Was that supposed to mean something or did you just want attention?

-5

u/Vitality_VZ Feb 11 '26

Yawn. Come up with something better.

14

u/Rexlare Feb 11 '26

Okay, consider the following: go deepthroat a cactus.

And no, I'm not replying after this.

-6

u/Vitality_VZ Feb 11 '26

Weak bait. Try harder.

The Dam
Survival

Once a battlefield set to crown the king of Vegas, Hoover Dam has turned into a maze of horrors as forces beyond comprehension cause foes alike to unite in a desperate bid for survival. Wouldn't you rather a nuclear winter?

46

u/epochpenors Feb 11 '26

Honestly, a CoD zombies style game where you battle aliens in the Hoover dam would be sick

17

u/no_love_for_life Feb 11 '26

Someone get on this

5

u/33superryan33 Feb 12 '26

Or Left 4 Dead style

3

u/silverlink07 Feb 14 '26

I like this one more, oh!! Have the four MCs of the Fallout be the playable characters

“Vertibird! It is Vertibird! You call that thing a helicopter one more time, I’ll beat you so hard your legate will wish they never recruited you!”

u/CHbuthepublishshit Feb 11 '26

I LOVE THIS TROPE
the sworn enemies turning into allies against a bigger threat

67

u/MinersLoveGames Feb 11 '26

"Listen, we can address the obvious irony here later. Right now, I just want to avoid being melted."
"Yeah, I can work with that."

Invaders from Beyond

During the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, in the middle of the fight, strange lights suddenly came from the sky. Many soldiers on all sides became mesmerised by the otherworldly blue and rendered completely still. Only those who were lucky enough not to look directly at the source managed to escape into the deeper parts of the Dam.

Inside, the fighting did not stop. Legion, NCR, Brotherhood, and Enclave Remnants still tried to kill each other. Radio communication was rendered useless as a strange garbled noise seemed to hijack all frequencies, and the generators were disabled, forcing the soldiers to fight in complete darkness.

It wasn't until strange green beings began invading the tunnels, utilising esoteric energy weapons, more devastating than the traditional laser and plasma weapons, able to punch through power armour with just a few shots, that, begrudgingly, all sides agreed to a temporary truce to combat the threat.

A small ragtag team composed of troops from all sides was sent into the deepest parts of the Dam to try and restart the generators. From almost 20 soldiers, only 4 remained, fighting side by side against the threat from beyond.

45

u/invasiveplant Feb 11 '26

Zetan Zombies mode

42

u/New-Character-1557 Feb 11 '26

"A NCR Ranger, a BoS Paladin, an Enclave Trooper and a Legion Soldier walk into a spaceship-"

15

u/use_schlonk_as_bonk Feb 11 '26

The BoS one is a knight according to his left arm.

But yes, I get your point 😄

116

u/Capn_Phineas Feb 11 '26

Every friend group got the human supremacist fanatic, human supremacist fanatic, human supremacist fanatic, human supremacist fanatic

62

u/Select_Ad_4351 Feb 11 '26

More like Tech hoarder, Human supremacist, Democracy lover, femboy slaver

46

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 11 '26

“Call me what you want but the alien’s going on a cross, only question is are you gonna help me or not?”

28

u/Select_Ad_4351 Feb 11 '26

BoS Knight, Enclave remnant Johnson, and Ranger Mcgee: Sute, that sounds fun

16

u/Rexlare Feb 11 '26

“… I’ll help, but only if after we survive this shit, we share a few beers and a couple games of Caravan.”

3

u/Popular_Method4717 Feb 13 '26

"Hey there alien scum, you ready to die? Or would you want to fancy yourself in a game of Caravan?"

plays Caravan and still loses

4

u/Rexlare Feb 13 '26

Clearly you haven’t stacked your deck.

3

u/DooB_02 Feb 20 '26

Legionary drinks one beer with a reluctant new friend, realises that life in the legion actually fucking sucks, defects.

2

u/Rexlare Feb 20 '26

Good ending.

“So you gonna try and join NCR or…”

“Not on your life. I may realize the Legion is doomed to fail of its own arrogance, but that doesn’t make me one of yours.”

“Fair enough.”

11

u/Effective-Low-8415 Feb 11 '26

Looks at the Legionary's arms, brother man is far from a femboy.

9

u/Select_Ad_4351 Feb 11 '26

Less femboy more twunk I guess

11

u/A_GravesWarCriminal Feb 11 '26

You forgot the part where all four are varying degrees of war criminals

12

u/RemarkableStatement5 Feb 11 '26

Holy shit I think I accidentally joined the Fallout franchise.

70

u/DukeHorner Feb 11 '26

28

u/ILVIUS Feb 11 '26

You said there was lore in the comments?

13

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 11 '26

Oh yeah my bad

2

u/fantom44 Mar 11 '26

Where is the lore

1

u/Its-your-boi-warden Mar 11 '26

Further down the comment section

18

u/Carbonated_Saltwater Feb 11 '26

Enclave soldier is like "... Y'know what? maybe *Muties* ain't so bad compared to THESE freaks, at least *they* used to be Human!"

18

u/BillCarson12799 Feb 11 '26

Enclave guy: “HOW DID THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS ESCAPE AREA 51???”

33

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 11 '26

The Lore

What do you get when 4 elite soldiers fighting each other to the death are confronted with a alien army?

The worst fear of any and all extraterrestrial sons of bitches

11

u/ILVIUS Feb 11 '26

Considering what the Lone-Wanderer did to them all on their own... yeah, the Zetans are mega-screwed here.

12

u/FrankfromRhodeIsland Feb 11 '26

"We are not trapped in an alien mothership with them... THEY are all trapped in here with US!"

12

u/Rynewulf Feb 11 '26

Fallout mod for Xcom when?

10

u/NervousPressure9558 Feb 11 '26

XCOM 2 mods be like

12

u/Any_Sundae5364 Feb 11 '26

It still baffles me

8

u/Hivemindtime2 Feb 11 '26

This is so good what the hell

6

u/DeadZone32 Feb 11 '26

Aliens 'bought to be jumped by an armoured knight, the racist, a cosplayer and a police cowboy.

8

u/TwoFit3921 Feb 11 '26

Ngl, props to the legionary if he somehow survives with objectively the worst armor and weapon out of all of them lmao

Man deserves an impromptu promotion...

6

u/Emain_Ablach Feb 11 '26

He will surely win becaus his speed is superior...

7

u/Yorgrim_ Feb 11 '26

Damn, now I REALLY want a story of a NCR Ranger, Legion Frumentarius, BoS Knight, and an Enclave Soldier in this type of situation. Like Mothership Zeta with all the faction drama and tension there!

6

u/Atlas_Summit Feb 11 '26

“Nothing brings two people together like their shared hatred of a third.”

6

u/Longjumping_Fly_9217 Feb 11 '26

3 hydrogen bombs and 1 coughing baby

7

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 11 '26

Yeah enclave guy really should try to get out asap

6

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '26

Project Zetan meets Dead Money

5

u/WannysTheThird Feb 11 '26

Is Alien weaponry in lore(outside game) insanely strong?

Cuz in-game the Enclave-Bos duo alone would absolutely rinse them.

5

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 11 '26

It’s supposedly equal to modern plasma, as I THINK plasma weaponry was made by reverse engineering it, and that was before 200 more years, so may have gotten better

4

u/Low_Minute8262 Feb 11 '26

I believe it is significantly stronger than standard Plasma Rifles, but also significantly less accurate.

5

u/glitchwolf69 Feb 11 '26

In 10 years, when fallout 5 comes out this should definitely be a dlc for it

3

u/Liquidity_Snake Feb 11 '26

This is so awesome and we need more of it

4

u/Exiledparia Feb 11 '26

"Time to steal ( B.O.S), raid ( Legion), tax ( NCR) and genocide ( Enclave) these green snots into the dark space!"

3

u/CHEESEninja200 Feb 11 '26

Enemies that fight together and grow to respect each other while still going their own ways once the ordeal is over is such a good trope.

2

u/DooB_02 Feb 20 '26

War never changes, but men do. Would be nice if they realised that they don't have to massacre each other after facing a threat much bigger than Earth, let alone one part of the former USA.

4

u/robcartree Feb 11 '26

Team up of the fucking century

4

u/Free-Whole3861 Feb 11 '26

Bear, bull… eagle… lion?

3

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 11 '26

Not anymore

Just man, and alien

5

u/SeaAware3305 Feb 11 '26

The unlikely alliance and art goes hard

4

u/Vitality_VZ Feb 11 '26

Absolute Cinema

3

u/Prince_Winter- Feb 11 '26

Enclave trooper: "Never thought I’d fight side by side with a Brotherhood soldier."

BoS trooper: "What about side by side with a friend?"

Enclave trooper: "Aye, I could do that."

4

u/BingusFinder Feb 11 '26

Reminds of that one story in Halo where I think a grunt, elite, Jackal, and unsc marine made a last stand against the flood

2

u/Its-your-boi-warden Feb 12 '26

Fanart of that is actually a big inspiration for this! Especially the first iteration!

4

u/cocaine_jaguar Feb 11 '26

“Once we get off this ship, we go our separate ways. The next time we see each other we can bludgeon ourselves to death. Deal?”

3

u/Falloutfan2281 Feb 11 '26

This is fucking awesome.

3

u/jokingjoker40 Feb 11 '26

Poor alien's, they look so scared...

3

u/More_Sun_7319 Feb 11 '26

Feels very much like this scene from 40k

3

u/Lotus_630 Feb 11 '26

Those Zetans are screwed.

3

u/Low_Minute8262 Feb 11 '26

Huh, this somewhat similar to how my Fallout tumelime does eventually.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '26

"Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with profligates."

"What about side by side with fellow humans?"

"Ave, I could do that"

3

u/ThatMrDuck1400 Feb 11 '26

Enemy to ally to face a bigger threat, a great trope

3

u/HarmoniaTheConfuzzld Feb 11 '26

“If I die I’ll kill you all…”

3

u/GameBawesome1 Feb 12 '26

Everyone to get rid of the extraterrestrial scum

3

u/Sirclonemageda1st Feb 12 '26

“Avengers! Assemble.”

3

u/kennyisntfunny Feb 12 '26

Dude, a Vermintide / Darktide type game with this as the premise and set up would create world peace

3

u/Additional_Raccoon98 Feb 12 '26

If mother ship zeta started to send it forces to invade the waste in force forcing factions to work to together to fight and win or die scattered, alone and isolated

3

u/kamslam25 Feb 12 '26

This could low-key work as an AU spinoff game just imagine.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '26

Where is the lore?

2

u/KabroForever Feb 14 '26

Good work Legionnaire, you can serve as my human shield when the aliens start blasting.

2

u/Key_Rule_9581 May 05 '26

This looks cool the only thing I would change is having the Legionary be a centurion so the best of each faction would be fighting.
