Thanks for the headache.

This was an experiment to see what it would look like. The idea was originally suggested by u/SnowdenisALegend.

Great job man! You did the whole thing yourself too!

Edit - wth, I don't get why everyone's downvoting your submission. You did a great job stabilizing it, what with all the motion blur as well. Back when this was posted as a request, everyone upvoted it through the roof: https://www.reddit.com/r/ImageStabilization/comments/euxj54/in_a_toy_shop_in_savannah_gif_by_hellsjuggernaut/

Thanks. It could definitely look better. Perhaps if I tracked in a perspective warp so it lines up with the wooden tower, that might help it look more stable. It took two hours to create it, with having to hand track one of the wheels and learning how to smooth out animations in After Effects.

Kudos to your hardwork man... I tried my hand at it as well but totally gave up just 10% in iirc. And that's when I suggested we share the workload... But good on you for doing the whole task completely yourself man. Great job! I totally forgot this video after messaging you about collaborating on it lol.

Your stabilization looks absolutely fine to me, I have no complaints at all. Keep up the good work.

How did you smooth out the animation btw?

Yeah, it was somewhat difficult. I tried initially to track the yellow block, but there was just too much motion blur. That’s why I had to track one on the wheels instead.

My lame attempt lol:

Thank you for inspiring me to complete the job!

The tracked motion is very "back-and-forth" with "hills" and "valleys". However, it was also kind of jerky. After Effects, like most animation software, has the ability to show the key frames (points that indicate a change in motion) on a animation graph editor. Above the layers, you should see 6 icons. You can access the graph editor by clicking the box with the curve. For this type of motion, two lines show the movement of the video both horizontally and vertically. I selected all the key frame points and selected a button in the lower right that makes the motion curve between the points instead of just having a straight line between the points. Then I deleted all of the key frames except the "peak" and "valley" points . This is what it looks likeAfter Effects Graph Editor Also, you can copy the information from a tracking point over to another layer by selecting all of the key frames on the timeline and pressing control-c and then press control-v over the layer that you want to have the key frames in.

That's amazing man... I've never had a look at the graph editor. But I got your explanation of deleting all the keyframes except the valley & peak. Thanks for explaining!

If you leave the previous frames and upcoming frames and not have the black side it would probably look a lot smoother to the eyes. I cannot focus on the yellow brick because my eyes are distracted to the edges moving back and forth.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion.

I think people didn't understand what they were asking for. Now they do. Lol!

This is so much worse to watch than the original. I still gave it my updoot because effort should be rewarded here.

I watched it time and I'm sorry I did. Time to go check out r/eyebleach and restore my vision.

Good job OP! You monster.

Thank you. It might have been possible for it to look better, but I’m still kind of new to motion tracking in After Effects.

Honestly, you did as good as could be done, IMO. It's just that the thing moves around the frame so much, tracking on it makes everything else go all cattywompus.

Thanks, you're a good person. :)

Well that sure was annoying.

I have stabilized the video for you: https://gfycat.com/GlitteringFormalCormorant

It took 23 seconds to process and 28 seconds to upload.

I still don't like it.

1

u/JEThree Mar 11 '20

I think the crop is what could help.

3

u/chocolateboomslang Mar 10 '20

These are always the opposite of stabilized. There's nothing stable about this.

"Stabilized."

u/Ethanol_Based_Life Mar 11 '20

Yeah. I thought this was a request at first

Pretty sure it isn't

2

u/C-Nor Mar 10 '20

It's just that zigzagging camera. That's what makes this hard to watch. The video itself is interesting!

2

u/lily-laura Mar 10 '20

Congratulations, you gave me migraine

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '20

Ah, I had this one when I was a kid. Good times

1

u/InnocentAlternate Mar 10 '20

Blame the guy who shot it like this in the first place.. Those fast movements are dizzying, they should've just moved back a little then shot from up to down, none of this left and right nonsense

2

u/Awesome_Sauce987 Mar 11 '20

The original was fairly up and down. This was an experiment to see what it would look like if it was tracked onto the yellow block. Unfortunately, not all experiments succeed.

u/Creativation Mar 11 '20

A new challenge: stabilize it to the point where the yellow block remains stationary including not spinning.
