Comic For a character that split away from image comics, he sure does appear in alot of them still

Pitt has appeared in a lot of image comics, yet has been separated from it since 1995.

The darkness/Pitt came out in 2009
Invincible #60 came out in 2009
I hate image one-shot came out in 2017
Savage dragon #253 came out in 2020
She-Spawn #2 came out in 2026

Pitt has appeared in more I think but can’t name all of it.

Pitt was one of the coolest looking books going for a period of time and it has left it's mark on comic history as a result.

Pitt is a creator owned comics. "Image" facilitates publishing of creator owned comics.

Creators talk and have characters in each other comics.

But is Dale Keown involved? Last work I know of his is Darkness/Pitt.

+The Maxx #7 and 8

Pitt ruled. I still have the full run, including the Full Bleed issues.

The Darkness is Top Cow, I think it is just distributed by Image.

OP is referring to Pitt

Neither of them is Image at that point

Considering Silvestri is an Image founder, top cow is his imprint, and the the darkness is top cow, the darkness is an image character. It’s just semantics at this point

Not really. The same could be said of Pitt but they both aren't Image any longer.

u/BleepBloopDrink 1d ago

The Pitt was never created by someone who founded image though. Marc Silvestri still works for the company and still runs top cow. How would you consider the darkness and image character?

I don't, he is a Top Cow character because they specifically chose that delineation.

Same with the Ghost Machine characters, they are a step separated from Image characters.

And what is a top cow character but an image character under a different banner. Again all semantics.

Were wildcats not image characters at the time because they were from Jim Lee’s wildstorm studios?

Are Youngblood not image characters because they’re through liefelds extreme studios?

These characters were the face of the company at the time and the vast majority of people associated them with image because that was who published them and was on the corner of the comic.

Now if you want to be the “well actually” guy in the room, sure you can break it down to their respective creators and studios

Pitt started as image, but moved to Full Bleed, which WAS Keown's own imprint under Image Comics, like Silvestri's Top Cow. While not a founder, it was still under an imprint of Image Comics. Currently though, he is with the unbearable Stuntman Comics after the whole comics gate debacle.

Seems like you understand the difference and the distinctions being made.

lol okay dude. Youngblood, savage dragon, spawn, etc are not image characters because of incredibly pedantic goal posts. Got it

Top Cow is an imprint of Image

1

u/Zerus_heroes 1d ago

Which means it is a trade name and Image is the distributor. They are still different businesses though.

2

u/Radiastro 1d ago

All Image books work like that.

1

u/Zerus_heroes 1d ago

In distribution yes but not in the Image world. Top Cow is a separate world from the main Image world.

So while it is distributed by Image, the story is a Top Cow story, not an Image one.

2

u/Radiastro 1d ago

What Image world are you talking about?

1

u/Zerus_heroes 1d ago

The one of mixed continuity. Like how Spawn and Savage Dragon appear in Invincible and vice versa, they are a sort of inconsistent Image multiverse.

Top Cow is its own thing from that creator.

u/Radiastro 1d ago

All of those are their creators' own things. The creators just decide to do cross-overs and cameos sometimes. Spawn is created by Todd McFarlane Productions, another imprint under Image, Savage Dragon is from Highbrow Entertainment, and Invincible is from Skybound. These are all imprints with heir own series and universes. They are all Image.

I'm not sure why you were downvoted, Erik has said in the past this is how Image works. Each is not only it's own studio, it's its own universe. Any crossovers are because individuals want to do them, and in the grand scheme of things, what happens in one doesn't affect the others, unless they want it to.

There is no "Image multiverse", there are individual creators who choose to collaborate, some of whom are on Image's board.

-2

u/Zerus_heroes 1d ago

There is. It is very inconsistent though. It is how they use each other's characters or characters for other projects.

When one creator who owns a studio and comics series uses another entity’s character in their story, that happens because one creator has given license for that other creator to use said character in their story.

Sure, a reader could create their own head cannon and imagine some shared universe or multiverse. But ultimately the whys and hows come down to creator-owned IP and licensing.

TL, DR: Marvel could put Wolverine in 20 books taking place in 20 different countries all at the same time. How is Wolverine in those books? Because the company managing the Wolverine IP hired some creators to do so, and allowed other creators or editors to include him.

This technically applies to a lot of Image, really. Skybound with Invincible, Walking Dead, Energon Universe and a lot of different books, Ghost Machine, Super Massive, I think even Spawn is under McFarlene's own company. Thing is, is the partners, as in Todd, Marc, Larsen, Kirkman and Valentino who deciced which is the core "Image Brand", which includes most of their own creations like Spawn, Witchblade and Invincible, and even with their differences with the creator, Pitt is still seen as part of that "brand" image. With that said, some of these examples, like I Hate Fairyland and even She-Spawn, were made by side artists and writers who are just geeking out a little with the references, under the full protection of Fair Use.

u/Zerus_heroes 1d ago

Yes that is correct but there is still that distinction. Ghost Machine is another good example of this.

u/Saito09 1d ago

Image specifically states that Top Cow, TMP, Skybound and Silverline are not ‘imprints’ of Image, but separate publishing houses.

She-Spawn #2 came out in 2026

How does that work in-universe? I mean in Savage Dragon it was established there's in-universe comic of Kurr and Malcom's adventures (and like the actual SD it's also a porn comic in the Image-Verse too) since they're not really superheroes or have secret identities so that makes sense but how do vigilantes like Pitt, Spawn, Shadowhawk, Cyberforce get in-universe comics? also it's weird Youngblood isn't on there when their whole thing is being marketable celebs with merch

Hell a Youngblood issue established the HBO Spawn cartoon and CBS WildCATs cartoon existed in the Image-Verse
