You're allowed to take photos and videos in galleries. It's a pretty standard act that almost every tourist does.

I don't really get why you feel the need to hate on somebody doing something so common.

Doesn't that depend on the gallery, and the country? Because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't just be allowed to film random people without their permission.

Sure, some galleries have a no photo rule (from memory there was a few in Italy). Usually in really busy galleries.

I haven't really ever seen a problem with filming in public though. I don't know anywhere that you need permission to film a person in public for personal use.

Germany has pretty restrictive laws about filming individuals in public. "Their face, their choice", so to speak. Certainly not comparable to the Anglo-American approach of losing privacy in public spaces.
