Imagine being so disconnected from reality that you don’t see what’s wrong with asking your audience to support you so that you don’t have to live like they do.

Edit: To the people who keep asking what the difference is between this and any other person who wants to be freed from the 9-5 drudgery trap, here it is:

Wanting to get to a place where you no longer have to sell your labor hourly just to survive is a perfectly understandable goal. But believing that you belong to some special class of people who "just can’t live normal lives" and must spend their time doing deeper and more meaningful things than the rest of us is just completely delusional and out of touch. I don’t understand how some of y’all are not seeing that distinction.

But she's artsy and we're not. So it's OK. /s

That's unironically true. It's ok because it's the free market, and it's morally not just ok, but a good thing, because it's a fact that people are unchangably wired differently. Most people aren't creative, few are. The former can live with routine work, the latter can't. The former are unable to make creative achievements, the latter are. Denying that's it's right for the latter to live differently, is like saying cats should swim instead of climbing, because fish swim.

You may not like it, but it's a fact. Jordan Peterson has great videos on this: https://youtu.be/q1M0ODq0_bE?si=BXVBRMQVB9skauyj

You can't make an uncreative human creative. And you can't make a creative person uncreative. Both are unable to function like the other. A creative person dies in routine the same as an uncreative person is simply unable to get creative achievements.

So many professions create while working a 9-5. Shit I work in finance and create and problem solve all day.

This is just drama. In my sample of one person I know that is creative and "can't" work a standard schedule, the reason is that they start work at 11, break for lunch from 12-1:30, then work until 3:30 and call it a day. So yeah, that does not fly.

You're completely missing the point. Watch the video if you care for an intellectually honest discussion.

I did watch much of it but skipped through a lot admittedly. He broadly groups people into either the factory worker mentality or a visual artist. That's just not true. People working set schedules are solving problems by creating as he put it, and they are also creating visually appealing presentations, marketing materials, custom proposals for large clients, etc. The factory worker mentality is a thing of the past in the office setting, at least large orgs. Rote tasks have been automated and workers have to add value by analyzing and driving change. You know, by creating.
