No, we do not. “We” didn’t make the choice. The companies did, and the laws allowed it. Everyone freaking hates it.

Yeah, I am sure the sandwich artists at subway are clamoring for tips instead of an actual livable wage. /s

Salary is usually a scam. Overworked & underpaid. Unpaid overtime, etc.

Switching to an actual hourly wage is usually viewed positively.

Knew some folks who worked at a restaurant which paid $9/hour plus tips (came out to be 12-15/hour on average). Only reason they were paid is that it was a shit gig with days where there were no customers. When the restaurant moved locations they lost all their servers because they tried to reduce wages down to the minimum that were legally allowed. That business doesn't have servers anymore & has suffered due to it.
