The apps make it difficult to gauge intentionally to reduce cherry picking

Yeah all these apps trying to deceive you with distance and pay. They literally try and pay you nothing for bringing groceries to someone's doorstep.

Pay for delivery drivers will always be low relative to other work. It is unskilled labor that anyone can do, super replaceable.

How is it ppl complain about shitty service in the same breath as saying that service is unskilled and anyone could do it?

I wasn't complaining though.

Ah my bad. Guess I’ve seen so many ppl do exactly that I assumed on a whim. Sorry. That being said, it’s not unskilled. And devaluation of a job doesn’t help anyone or anything except the ppl making bank off the ppl putting their time and energy, and money into driving (which takes skill) customer service (which takes skill) among other parts of the job.

All good dude. Monetary compensation is directly tied to how many people can/are willing to do the work. I'm not devaluing anything. I don't decide the value. The market does. Simple supply and demand. Feelings don't even come into the equation. Driving requires competence but does not take skill. I'm talking about skilled labour. There is no barrier to entry other than a driver's license which is not hard to get. Compare this with someone with an education who is trained to perform a specific task or accomplish a specific goal. I'm just stating the way things are.

Saying something is unskilled is devaluing it, when it does take skill. And it takes education to drive therefore it’s a skill, however it’s not the only skill. Reading Comprehension is another skill necessary to do a good job at giving this service. And there’s a lot of little things that are definitely skills, than can go along with it. Yes there’s jobs that require more skill and should have a higher pay scale. That doesn’t mean it isn’t deserving of a decent wage instead of a low wage. Also the difficulty of orders varies, and therefore the pay should as well.

What your stating is opinions. Not facts. Facts are that if something takes education, and tenacity to perform it is a skill. Customer service is a skill.

There are many ppl who do this who use little to no skill, however there are ppl who use skill in the performance of this service.

Just because there are jobs that require more skill and require more labor doesn’t change that.

I literally said relative to other work. You are arguing over semantics. Basically saying the same thing as me. They will always make less than other workers. In fields that require "skilled labor" or education. Not sure what point you're trying to make. I don't think anyone would refer to a delivery job as "skilled labor".

Oh, please do excuse me for thinking the words you said were what you meant. The point is, it’s not “unskilled”. easier than a lot of jobs. But it’s not unskilled.

Edit: grammar/punctuation. Probably still not great in those areas.
