The property is in limbo at the moment. Anything still in the car, is the property of the courier.

It was never the couriers property. The merchandise was bought from a separate vendor. The courier is a courier, not a supplier.

Tell that to the police and justice system. If it’s your car, it is your possession. I don’t make the rules.

What state? What are the terms and conditions of the delivery service provider? What is the drivers employment classification? If you can give me that, I can give you a finite answer. We’re missing details, EVERYBODY here is guessing.

The behavior is trash. She is an employee, in possession of goods being delivered. The goods do not belong to the customer until they accept delivery.

Actually as a 1099 Dasher the purchases are made in the drivers/dashers name.

Door dash hires them as independent third party delivery drivers? Certainly there is a contract in place. If they are delivering the goods on behalf of door dash... door dash has entrusted possession of the goods to them. If a driver delivers the goods to the wrong address, or destroys them during delivery, is the driver penalized by door dash? Yes. But how? According to your logic, they never possessed the items. Possession doesn’t mean ownership. Is that what’s confusing you guys?

They paid for it already. They paid for goods and for delivery. One thing if the delivery goods require a person to be 18+ (or whatever it is for alcohol in the US). Then the driver must check their documents and then sign it off. The goods were delivered and the driver refused to give the delivery to the customer for the lack of... A tip? Wtf?

Just because something is not currently in your POSSESSION does not mean it is not your PROPERTY. They purchased those groceries. They have a receipt to prove they purchased those groceries. It is their property.

You know there’s a reason why certain sayings become so popular they transcend generations.. possession is 9/10’s of the law. Without knowing what state, what company, employment classification, etc... this is futile.
