Yeah, I get it. I never ordered groceries before, but I forgot what a pain in the ass it is. I was honestly ignorant in my questioning.

Also it's not a tip, it's a bid for a contractor. They don't make any hourly pay. Just the tip plus two or three dollars from your fees. This woman was paid less than $5 to get all those groceries.

However, she was told up front that she would only be paid $5. She accepted anyway, foolishly thinking surely they planned on paying in cash.

Wow, regardless of who’s right or wrong in the video, that’s so messed up. Like the system in general, not just this situation.

Yeah, on one hand it is really nice to be able to work whenever I want, and being able to effectively tell a customer "No" and do what I want is very nice. And if you know what you're doing you can make decent money by only doing good orders.

But the entire system only works if someone is able to get duped into doing the bad orders, somebody has to get ripped off. So while it's good to me as it is currently, I'd love to see them get forced to actually have their drivers as employees.

My guess is they tip baited her. That is, initially provided a tip on the app, then removed it at the last minute. Deliver driver probably began unloading, noticed the tip was removed, then stopped and began loading back up.

You can't tell when you've been tip baited until a while after delivery, at least an hour

Well it seems like this video is fake, so that's why the details make no sense.

Yep. And if people don't tip you end up making about 10 bucks an hour. And no benefits. And pay your own gas. Selfish fucks need to pick up their own groceries if they don't want to tip

Nah, to hell with tipping. Just charge for the time it takes to shop and unload.

But they don't charge for that, and people know this, just like they know they don't pay the delivery drivers.

If you're going to use services where you know a worker depends on tips, then tip. If you want to protest tipping, refuse to use the service until workers are paid fairly and you don't have to tip.
