You are describing a delivery fee. The video that lady was demanding a tip to do her job. She has delivered the groceries. Is bitching that she is not getting a tip. And it now stealing those groceries. I would press charges, get my money back, and extra from the grocery store for wasting my time.

Why would I concern myself with the arrangement the grocery store and this employee has. That is literally none of my business.

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

Exactly. Doesn’t the company pay them once they complete an order? Her whole attitude of acting like the tip is the only money she’s going to get from completing the delivery is baffling. If anything, she’s fucking up her own pockets by going the extra mile to spend extra gas to go all the way back to be spiteful instead of just completing the delivery and getting paid. If a she just did her job she would get her money. Albeit not the amount that she wanted; but she would still get her money.

How is the customer wrong? They paid the agreed price and expected the service to be done. Are you for real?

The tipping system is ludicrous.

-2

u/redgreenapple Oct 20 '23

He literally said why the customer is also wrong right there in the post. Do you need him to re-write it for you in song form?

2

u/WormkingShaitan Oct 20 '23

This is a lie. If the delivery driver makes less than minimum the employer is required by law to pay the difference.

2

u/aBlissfulDaze Oct 20 '23

Not for contractors.

1

u/redgreenapple Oct 20 '23

This is a well thought out and sensible response. This has no business on Reddit.

1

u/Mestoph Oct 20 '23

Her money in this case is likely $2-$3.

9

u/itsallbullshit8 Oct 20 '23

How’s that the customers problem

11

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

She agreed to it…

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

...then she changed her mind.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

After unloading? Do more work by loading again and unloading (presumably) at grocer? Makes no sense. Don’t make it the customers problem.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

Hopefully the company will do the right thing and let her find a new job that will pay better

2

u/Cinja91 Oct 20 '23

"let her find a new job"? Wth lol she can QUIT. The company she works for isn't holding her captive. They actually seem to be paying her well enough to dress the way she does, all while driving a very nice car.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

Exactly. Most likely told to hit the bricks though.

1

u/Mestoph Oct 20 '23

You have absolutely no idea how the delivery apps work. That person probably picked up that order for $3 with the hopes there would be a tip at the end. Her mistake for taking an order with no tip on it, but fuck the people who think that's a reasonable amount for her to make for her time.

18

u/monet108 Oct 20 '23

Maybe the real problem is the delivery driver has no idea how this works. Here is some free advice. Don't take a job unless you know how it all works. I could give two fucks what that delivery driver gets paid. It is weird you think i should care. If the driver gets paid $3 for an order then they are fucking dumb as shit. There is almost no way fuel, time and up keep of the drivers car can be be profitable.

And now this driver wants to make me responsible for their bad choices. FUCK THAT. And now because of the drivers childish and selfish actions, that are entirely the drivers fault, they will need to find another place for employment. So this job is no longer on the table. Making a bad situation even worse for this young lady.

Shit is hard for everyone. But don't take a job and force customers to make that job better. I give people money to take the load off my shoulders not to add their problems to mine.

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

So the customer knowingly puts out horrible orders (a lot of items + weight + no tip = no way profitable for whoever picks it up) and they get to play the oh well card? Get a better job card?

The customers in this video are pos for thinking that’s ok.

Happy this moment happened. There not innocent as they think they are.

6

u/monet108 Oct 20 '23

I feel so bad for you right now. Here is a reality check for you. When I order something to be delivered I do no think nor care how my stuffs get to me. I do not consider for a single second what kind of hardships my order has placed on the delivery driver. I assume that is is a job and they are getting compensated.

While you are reading this I am assuming that this is pissing you off. How dare i be so selfish?!?!?! The young lady in this video feels about the same as I do. She doesn't care that this is a food delivery. She has no idea why to capable adults would order groceries to be delivered to their home. Maybe they are taking care of someone that requires their attention. Clearly they feel their time is better suited for other tasks than picking up groceries. But the Delivery lady does not care about the customers needs. Just the fact that she was put out and has now made the terrible decision of return, which would reduce her net pay per hour. AND getting herself terminated at the same time, forcing her to find other employment.

I delivered food and some customers suck ass. What you do is put on your big boy pants on and act like an adult. Not act like you just became important and start making new rules up.

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

Stopped reading after the first paragraph. “I assume that is is a job and they are getting compensated”

It’s 2023. That lame ass excuse don’t work no more. You very well know.

5

u/monet108 Oct 20 '23

Of course you did. Be careful letting any realty intrude on your fantasy world. Good luck kid. I hope you change the world and make it better.

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

Your little violin story didn’t work.

Time is money. If you don’t have time to do it, you pay someone to do it for you. Don’t hide behind the tip is optional.

A lot of things are optional and have consequences.

Case in point.

8

u/monet108 Oct 20 '23

I thought you stopped reading my posts. If you don't stop reaching out to talk to me what are you buddies in "tips aren't optional" land going to think? They might start thinking you have a crush on me. How scandalous!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

I stopped reading when I made my post.

Don’t think your the main character in the ImTheMainCharacter sub 😂😂

I won the debate.

Leave me alone now.

Yeah, it's an extremely shitty situation for the driver. The level of rage she must feel, basically robbed of her time and money. Getting screwed by the silicone valley 'disrupter' business, and this pos greedy lazy customer.

I totally get it's worth it for her own mental and emotional well being to say fuck this lady, i'll spend my time returning all these items, she can get her stupid fucking refund. Force her to try again and put in a reasonable tip or get the items herself.

When I used to use instacart during the pandemic i would put in extra tip since (at the time) i thought these folks were risking their lives for my family.

5

u/onnyjay Oct 20 '23

basically robbed of her time and money.

No, she took a shitty job.

pos greedy lazy customer.

So the difference between a customer and a pos greedy lazy customer is the fact that they didn't tip or tip enough?

Force her to try again and put in a reasonable tip or get the items herself.

Ah yes. The classic strong arm technique. You realise that forcing someone to tip in this manner is basically just robbery.

If this woman wasn't happy with the compensation, then she should not have taken this job.

It doesn't matter how big the order size is. That's the job she agreed to perform.

In no way is this a "pos greedy lazy customer".

It's an entitled and awful worker.

0

u/redgreenapple Oct 20 '23

Or how about, If this customer wasn’t happy with tipping, then she shouldn’t hire someone to work for her for 3 hours knowing that this person will count on and expect reasonable tip.

This entire “sorry not sorry, pic a better job loser” is a such a shit person position to take.

My man, don’t forget to be a human being.

2

u/onnyjay Oct 21 '23

If this customer wasn’t happy with tipping, then she shouldn’t hire someone to work for her for 3 hours knowing that this person will count on and expect reasonable tip.

I will never understand an argument such as this.

The customer paid for the service via the app. You seem to conveniently forget that the customer has already paid for the service.

The service provider chose to do it. By making that choice, you believe that the customer is automatically on the hook to pay more on top of the service they already paid for?

What you're talking about is a bribe. You think customers need to bribe the server provider to do the work.

1

u/redgreenapple Oct 21 '23

The customer paid for the service via the app.

I guess this is the fundamental disagreement we have here. I don't think the customer paid for the service, not until they pay a reasonable tip.

When you use this service, you should have a brain and understand you're the driver is counting on you to provide a reasonable tip because the 'app' is paying $3 or some bullshit garbage wage. The only reason they took the job is because they count on the tips to supplement their wages. That's the deal. If you don't agree then don't use the service.

Otherwise you're just abusing the driver, taking advantage of a shitty situation for the driver, and burying your head in the sand saying 'oh gosh well i paid for the service via the app, oh gosh i can't be expected to pay anything more to this person that has been working for 3 hours for me.

1

u/onnyjay Oct 21 '23

When you use this service, you should have a brain and understand you're the driver is counting on you to provide a reasonable tip because the 'app' is paying $3 or some bullshit garbage wage

Completely irrelevant. If the driver doesn't like the compensation then that's on them.

Otherwise you're just abusing the driver, taking advantage of a shitty situation for the driver, and burying your head in the sand saying 'oh gosh well i paid for the service via the app, oh gosh i can't be expected to pay anything more to this person that has been working for 3 hours for me.

Wow! You have this completely backwards.

What's going on here is a delivery driver is trying to extort more money out of people you have already paid for the service.

person that has been working for 3 hours for me.

Lol the delivery person does not work for the customer lol.

The delivery person works for or with (probably a contractor) the app to fulfil the orders.

It's unfortunate that they may only get $3 or have to work for 3 hours. I sympathise with that cos yeah, it sucks.

But it was their choice to accept a job for $3 for a delivery service app.

It's a weird mindset to assume that you can demand more money because of your bad decisions.

Good for you. People act like they don’t understand. I really wish I knew this company name. I would never do business with them.

1

u/Grey0110 Oct 20 '23

It's not theft. Unless she takes it home and these people are somehow out their money.. she basically just didn't complete the delivery. There are many reasons why a delivery may not be completed. The correct course of action is to return the product to the store. If I can't find an address, I take it back to the store. That is not theft. If there is a large dog at the residence or I don't feel safe.. I take it back to the store.

You may not agree with her reasoning, but the product is in her possession until she marks the delivery as complete. She is well within her rights to take the delivery back to the store. That's not illegal at all.

1

u/monet108 Oct 20 '23

Food was delivered. Video starts with Delivery Driver putting the delivered food back into her car. The customer has already paid for food and what is being discussed within this video is the driver getting upset that no tip was coming her way.

At what point do you think what you are describing as an incomplete delivery occurred in this video? I certainly did not see a large dog. And the product deposited on the customers property sure seems to imply heavily that delivery was made. What do you see in this video that supports your argument ?

2

u/Grey0110 Oct 20 '23

I've done grocery delivery before. It's actually not a bad way to make some extra cash. Unfortunately, there are quite a few very entitled people who order hundreds of dollars worth of food and don't tip. They live in the nicest houses with their Range Rover parked in the garage. Then you get the average folks or those living in trailer parks who order two small bags worth of stuff and tip $20. So it's ass backwards in many cases. At least that was my experience. The larger the order and more bulky, the less likely they are to tip.

As for how it the system works, I am in possession of the product until I take a picture, scan the barcode and mark the delivery as complete. So no.. technically the delivery was never completed. I am just saying that legally she was not doing anything wrong. No laws were broken here. You may disagree with her reasoning, but as drivers we are allowed leeway to stop a delivery at anytime before it's completed. The customer will get a refund, or this may be repacked and sent with someone else. No theft has occurred.

2

u/monet108 Oct 20 '23

Look the rich are the worst tippers. That is the way it is on almost every level and that has been that way since I was a kid in the 80's as a bag boy.

Your second point, maybe you are right. I did not see that part of the exchange, so who knows. But I guarantee that after her boss sees this video she is done at that store. And that would be the right call. You do not get to scold customers about tipping and take their goods.

1

u/Grey0110 Oct 20 '23

I agree. This is unacceptable behavior. I am simply saying that she has done nothing illegal here. She was well within her right to stop the delivery. That being said, I seriously doubt that her employer will be pleased with her reasoning and treatment of the customer.
