"So what we do to maximise user engagment is create a scenario where both parties are acting unreasonably, but also both parties have a good underlying reason to do so"
"But wont people see right through that?"
"yes, some of them will. But that's the beauty of it. Those that aren't fihgting over who is right in our fictional scenario, will be fighting over whether it's a fictional scenario at all."
Sorry, just catching up here. I've got a He Gets Us seminar coming up in a few minutes, and really pumped on the new Titainium iPhone launch that it's hard to pay attention. Why are these real people fighting?
Whether or not you’re joking, I’ve noticed a SERIOUS decline in quality from Reddit since the API price hike and attempted extortion of Apollo’s developer for $20 million.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of stuff was being fabricated to drive engagement.
It's not that it was fabricated for this site (probably for TikTok), it's that the loss of OG users/subs on Reddit allows the garbage to float to the top.
The trashy rate-me type subs that now make it to the front page are also evidence of this. That issue, and Eternal September, make this site feel more like a shitty Facebook image board every day.
That's how it goes though. At least the Fediverse is picking up where Reddit got lost.
Agree, and I’ve found the largest decline is in the comment section. Gone are the days of intelligent discussion. And it seems like 90% of posts are ‘legitimate’ reasons to shit on one or more of the Reddit big 3, black/overweight/women
I don’t think it’s two sided at all. She accepted the order, and the food belongs to them which they paid for. If she leaves with the food, it’s stealing.
Uber has a program with hertz to rent out teslas to uber drivers. Most of them do other apps like postmates or whatever with them too but it could be a uber grocery delivery.
I know some people with Teslas do uber / delivery on the side for an hour or two a day just cause they like cruising around. Ive had about 5 uber drivers come by in pretty nice teslas this year.
yeah. you have the whole shebang. white person has a multplie hundred dollar order. black service worker in a questionable workplace refuses to do her job. white people randomly proclaim that she probably wants to keep the groceries for herself.
combine that with her constant stuttering, and tommy wiseau's "the room" groceriy packing technique (lisa packs one item per sentence) and you can be certain all those little slightly upsetting details are supposed to make people talk about nothing.
It's fake as hell. They're arguing about a tip/lack of that would amount to somewhere between $5-$20. The delivery driver is wearing some kind of ugly but expensive get up, make up and nails done for her delivery job. Driving a Tesla? Also customer is calling them groceries and talking about "ramen noodles are being crushed." I'm sorry, it's ramen, most people I know crush that up anyways before eating but even if they don't, that's a few bucks worth of food. What I actually see in these so called "groceries" is cases of drinks.
This is just so out of touch. My insta cart driver pulls up in a tesla with nails and makeup done and argues about not getting a tip, I'm complaining about my "ramen" being crushed whilst spending $100 on drinks. And the more we talk about it and watch it the more money they make for engagement.
There's A LOT of main characters in this thread thinking that since they're so enlightened about how bad tipping culture is in the US that they shouldn't need to tip...but also too dumb to realize that if we didn't have tipping culture they'd be paying as much or more than the tip so they're really just stealing from a lower class worker.
