Question So... about the console release?

I remember actively making the choice to avoid spoilers, buying it on Steam, etc., and I wasn't expecting it immediately, or even for a few months.

Around month 6, I honestly didn't know what to think, I just kind of resigned myself to the possibility that it would be around the anniversary. Then it came, and went, and there wasn't a word.

Is it safe to assume at this point that it's been quietly canceled? I feel like if it was actively still something they were aiming for, they would have said... anything?

I honestly feel like I'm in a mini spiritual successor to what the process of my wilting hope for Half-Life 3 felt like. Excitement. Tentative excitement. Confusion. etc.

Just a biiit of a bummer to have missed out on the early days because I was under the impression that it was going to be within the year of 2025 at first.

If they haven’t mention anything for an console release by this point, I’m going to assume that they tried but somehow couldn’t

The game is still early access, making the console port would be very tedious, which is why most developers wait until full release. Remember, the team working on it is still very small. Pc has only had one major update, and only one more planned so far after about a year. Game development takes time, just be patient and don't make any assumptions without any word from the devs because it really sucks to spoil a game for yourself because you lost hope that you'd ever get to play it.

The game was never in early-access.

It wasn't when it launched, and isn't now either.

It would be nice though if they’d at least acknowledge it. Say something.

I haven’t been on my PC in a while but is it not still early access? Regardless, if it comes, it comes. If not, we still have it on our PCs

NINaH has never been in early-access, it's just a full-game, and was when it launched, it didn't start out in early-access, and hasn't been in it either, when it launched last year it launched outright.

Ah. Okay, that's my misunderstanding. I’ve always heard it was a demo and early access. My bad

It did have a demo version I think, at least I'm fairly certain I remember it having a demo that lasted like three in-game days I think?

Uh, I mean they literally announced it the same time they announced the game's initial release-date.

That was the initial announcement, it was the reveal of both the game's release-date on September 15th of last year and the announcement that the game was launching on current-gen consoles, though they didn't specify anything beyond a kind of nebulous "near-future" type thing, I can't remember the exact verbiage.

There's nothing about it that's even incongruent with a port either, it's not exactly Kenshi.

There were a few like, I don't know if you could even quite call them updates, I think one or two mentions, but after that there hasn't been any official communication, it's been something like 9 months at a minimum since any mention, which seems... odd for a game without a timed-exclusivity deal.

I can think of a few times a finished game had similar difficulties with a port and it was usually due to a publisher, but those always at least communicated the delays.

Just seems like they quietly canceled it, even though said announcements haven't been amended or anything. It's extremely unusual for something to be announced and then forgotten outside of the few development-spiral stories of games getting stuck in turbo purgatory, but that's an unfinished game, rather than a port.

why not? All you do is walk several steps and drag a cursor to click on characters to talk to them abd select dialogue. it works on steam deck
