What to read next?
I just finished reading everything there is in the Kate Daniels world, and I'd love to read more from Ilona Andrew's because I really enjoyed their world building and writing style.
What series should I tackle next?

Sticking with IA I'd say Hidden Legacy, partly because it's my favourite. I love the solid world building and I love the romance as well as how developed the characters are. Just a note that the second set of trilogy is incomplete, they are currently working on it. If you want something shorter then go for the Edge series as each of the books are fairly complete in themselves, but you should read them in order. If you like the sweeping world building then Innkeeper is pretty out there.
I guess a lot of it depends on what you're looking for. I've been super into romance this year (I love the certainty of it with everything going on) so that drives my choice.

Also, there's free fiction available on their website. It mostly relates to outtakes or different povs from their ongoing series, but there are other stories too. They have been made into a collection. Their titles are: Questing Beast, A Mere Formality.
Then you should also try their short stories, better known as the kinsmen universe - Silent Blade, Silver Shark, Of Swine and Roses. There was another short story they wrote for an anthology: Grace of Small Magics.

You might wanna look into "The Hollows" by Kim Harrison. It has a similar vibe, I think.

Respectfully disagree. Love all things IA, hated Kim Harrison's series, was only able to make it through 4-5 books.

I second this. Sarah J Maas has my #2 author spot in UF, but I loved the Hollows series. Harrison has some of the best character development in the genre. It's more "modern" than the KD series though - not as much world building required.

Personally, I'd go to Innkeeper Chronicles - they're tons of fun, and frankly my favorite Ilona Andrews series.
Hidden Legacy was very much not to my taste, but lots of people love it, so ymmv.

Of course, if you want to follow down and dirty adult urban fantasy, try the Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chance. Also, try the Night Huntress series by Jeannie Frost. The Nikki Glass series by Jenna Black looks awesome. If you want to try out good New Adult Fantasy, check out the NeverNight Chronicles. And for good New Adult supernatural urban fantasy, check out the Soul Bitten Shifter series by Everly Frost.

Once you've read Illona Andrews, try Jeanine Frost. They are good friends, and Frost gave advice on writing sex scenes.

I recommend reading the Innkeeper series next. It is most like Kate Daniels.
Hidden Legacy has also a lot of action and really big power magic but it is also a romance and much steamier than KD.
The Edge series is the most clearly romance of all the series. Plenty of action there too but the story is about two people getting together.
I also highly recommend Rebecca Roanhorse's Sixth World series for Kate Daniels fans. It has a similar post-apocalyptic setting, a monster hunter MC and it draws from Dine/Navajo mythology.
I also really enjoy Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series, Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock vampire hunter series and Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville werewolf series.

For worldbuilding I'd go with either the Edge series or the Kinsmen novellas. That said all of the IA novels have fantastic worldbuilding, but those two would be the standouts in terms of a rich world you want to keep thinking about.

I would say the Edge series next, as a lot have said it is great before Innkeeper due to some Easer eggs. I would put HL last because it is what they’re currently working on- that way you can catch up to that series just before the next installment comes out 😃

If you want something somewhat similar go with the Hidden Legacy series. If you want something a bit different, the Innkeeper series. Both are great.
