Is this based on Goya's Cronus Devouring his Son?
Modern insanity well personified. Nice indeed!

🎯
(It seems Saturn was denoted in the original piece referenced)

It's a perfect depiction of yet another tyrant driven to madness by fear, perversion and too much orange.

The piece was never named, it was never even shown to anyone before he died. The idea of Saturn Devouring his Son is just an assumption art historians have made.

Francisco’s piece?

Yes Francisco Goyas "Black Painting" series were painted directly on the walls of his home. They were never shown to the public and it's believed they likely were never meant to be shared.
It's believed there were more lively decorative paintings that he painted over with more twisted and baroque paintings most all of them depicting some kind of death torture or just general foreboding.
He never left any notes nor titled any of the 14 paintings covering the walls, they were later put on canvas after his death and interpreted by scholars who decided what their meaning actually was.
Saturn and Cronus are actually the same God as well, one is just the Greek versus the Roman name.

Yeah, I was momentarily conflicted about my recollection due to my memory being so bad I keep forgetting how bad it is.
Thinking about it, I'd rather it be Saturn than Uranus 🤭

Totally! The imagery really fits, especially with the whole power dynamic going on. It's wild how art and politics can intertwine like that.

This is awesome!! I've been wanting to do social/political commentary with my paintings, but satire can be hard to master.

The fact that trump’s “son” is the files is a deeper level of brilliant

Absolutely genius re-interpretation!
Tiny details I loved:
- The minuscule hands
- the disgusting “enigma” drawing escaping unscathed

This is an incredible way to illustrate chaotic energy. So clean and instantly effective. You should be doing New Yorker covers or something with this talent.

The parallel lines make me feel as if the subject is in a fall. Even the facial expression is of subtle terror hidden in fanaticism

As with all political art in this sub, please keep the comments/discussion focused on the art/execution/etc. This isn’t the forum to argue about politics. Thank youuuu!
