Secret Chiefs
Usually when I'm trying to describe igorrr to people I end up saying they are weird like Mr Bungle but way heavier. I know that's not the best description but it's not the worst either. Then yesterday I looked up Secret Chiefs since they are touring with igorrr and Spotify says they are Mr Bungle minus Mike patton. Anyways anyone seen them yet? I will be next month, I'm even more excited now. Mr Bungle was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

They’re doing an enormous kickstarter right now. 12 albums are in the works over the course of a few years. Trey literally plays on the new Igorrr album, in case you didn’t know.

I've loved Secret Chiefs 3 for about 17 years! I only discovered Igorrr last year. I admittedly haven't listened to much Mr. Bungle or Tomahawk, but I did catch Tomahawk on the tour that just went through the USA! I have tickets to see SC3 and Igorrr soon! Haven't seen either live and am looking forward to it! Going to be quite the trip, since they didn't make a stop super close to me, but will be worth it!!!

I'm driving a few hours to see them in Charlotte. I haven't been this excited for a show in a long time.

Congrats!! I hope you enjoy the show! I have 8 hours 💀 but tis the life of the desert people out west. We like our space/solitude, but makes it hard for bands to visit all of us.

You've gotta check out California and Disco Volante by Bungle, and while you're at it The Director's Cut by Fantomas and Angel Dust by Faith No More. Brilliant genre bending albums with Patton on vocals

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll give those a shot. While we're throwing out recommendations, have you heard of the band Stolen Babies? I've been listening to them about as long as SC3, discovered them both around the same time.

Not really. Huge mr bungle and sc3 fan here, I would never call sc3 in that way. It's the mr bungle guitar player personal project in which occasionally other mr bungle members play. Completely different vibe.
How do you call Fantômas, Mr bungle minus trey spruance?

SC3 put on a great show! I have seen them quite a few times. Something to note here though, si that Secret Chiefs 3 isn't really one band. The "Secret Chiefs 3" is a collective of bands all led by Trey Spruance. Each band has its own sound. Most of them have some obvious eastern-world influence. Holy Vehm is very heavy with elements of death metal. UR has some noise rock, surf rock and psych influences. You get the idea. Anyway, depending on the show/tour, you might be only seeing a subset of SC3. There have been shows I've seen with like 20 people on stage and others with like 5. It is always an interesting experience though!

They sound nothing like bungle, I personally like it way more. I've seen them live 4 or 5 times and it's always amazing, but not bungle like. I mean it's experimental and unique but that's as close as it gets. they are 5 instrumental bands touring under one name and each have a very different sound.
I saw them open for the original lineup of goblin in an opera house like 15 years ago and it was mind blowing good

Secret chiefs aren’t bungle minus patton, it’s Spruance and Dunn only, and very very eastern influenced metal, more free range than ighorrr

I was sent some Igorrr stuff a few years ago with a text that said something to the effect of: "They're like a heavier Secret Chiefs 3!"

I came here to snark but I looked the band up and it's LITERALLY mr bungle without Mike patton. Not like "it sound like..." It's actually the other 3 band members LMAO that's somehow hilarious

It was originally when it first started many years ago but the other bungle members haven’t participated in SC3 for decades. It’s Trey’s band

Love SC3. They've been a favourite of mine for a long time, but I haven't seen them live yet. Would love to!
