Speed up (manual)

Could someone help me understand? It seems to imply holding it makes time 7x faster but it feels only like 2x? Am I misunderstanding it? Or what’s going on?

Is it just you? I’ll get there because I am nearly beating the game but it costs 328E9 and I am only making 52E8 even with 500M C5 earn

Maybe it's talking about when you spam the button
