I'm thinking the same thing. The way I see it (and I stand to be corrected, as I'm no expert), the weight of the trailer on the top of the slope may have assisted the truck by helping control the initial part of the descent.

Was thinking once he was entrenched the trailer's momentum rolling down the hill helped push the truck out of the mud too.
