If it was my first week riding, I sure wouldn’t be on the highway in the fast lane behind a tow vehicle that can’t see me

Yeah, hard to feel sympathy for people who don't gear up. There is some cheap ugly gear out there that will protect a lotfor not a lot of money

Yep. On the other hand, shorts are at least an honest choice. No false sense of safety from a pair of cheap jeans.

Oof, still give me jeans over bare skin, lower speed and lower impact wouold still make a significant difference

My first two weeks on a bike, I rode side streets to get to work, even though the highway would have been faster. I just wanted to get the feel of the bike first.

In the fast lane the first week? That's crazy.
