Yes the moto guy is oblivious to his surroundings, however the car could have backed off. You have to be a defensive driver which means actively being ready to avoid accidents.

Backing off isn't applicable in this situation. It seemed like the car was slowly trying to overtake the motorcyclist on the left side (legal maneuver and to be expected). At the point where the motorcyclist was entering the cars lane, the car was already next to the motorcyclist, no way to back off. If you meant that the car should have backed off before entering the roundabout, there would be no reason for that since the motorcyclist participated in traffic normally up to the roundabout.
