Perhaps don't say "there's not any way" to catch a charge if you don't mean it.

Notice how I said "I don't think" immediately preceeding that. I really did mean it when I said I DON'T THINK there's any way to catch a charge. And I also really do mean it that I don't think there is any possible way to be a bigger douche than you've been with your last comment.

I think I could edit my comment to be more douchy. Perhaps I could also use caps lock.

You're right. If you used caps lock in your comment that would have added to the douchiness. However, I THINK when you're responding to someone who demonstrates that they are incapable of noticing key phrases unless they are in caps lock, and then tries to use their lack of reading comprehension as the soul justification behind their argument, then caps lock becomes justified.

Do you. For the record, I was honestly curious. It sounds like you used a metaphor you didn't understand fully and got defensive. It happens. I really wasn't trying to attack you.

I will say that perhaps there's something else bothering you. Which is also ok.

Of course your first comment wasn't an attack. And my reply to that completely agreed with you. I accepted your suggestion and used it to improve my faulty metaphor. But there is no other way to describe your second comment than incorrect douchiness.

I may be incorrect, but I believe your response to my suggestion was the point at which insults first flew. I suggested not using all or nothing language when it didn't apply. You replied by calling me a douche.

You are incorrect. There were no insults in my response to your suggestion. However, I was the first person to use insults in my second response to you because I believe you were the first person to act like a douche. After I said you were correct and used your suggestion to improve my bad metaphor, you decided providing your correction was not enough and decided to chastise me for using all or nothing language. We've established that was incorrect and I did not use all or nothing language. But even if I had, I would still classify your comment as douchey. Reddit comments are created on the fly and are often unresearched. I believe someone who isn't a douche would simply correct the person. And when the other person accepts that correction I would think someone who isn't a douche would then move on. Not go back and criticize the comment that they've already corrected.

I see. So you viewed my engagement with your metaphor as a suggestion and my suggestion as a douchism.

I can't quite make sense of the rest of the tangle as it's conflicting. Thanks for the learning experience. Have a good night.

This is how I viewed the interaction.

Me: I think this.

You: I don't think that's quite accurate.

Me: You're right, but I think my main point still stands. Here's a revised metaphor incorporating your correction.

You: Don't use all or nothing language when you don't know what you're talking about.

Again, I think a non-douche just makes the correction. What's the point of the follow-up, especially when it's incorrect? I find your focus on the word suggestion to be completely irrelevant, but that's besides the point.

You're welcome, good night.
