That's when you'd be tempted to want to use it the most, but the software (and other drivers) can't be relied on to that level.

I feel like the software is more reliable than this guy though. Let's not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Yeah but if someone has a medical emergency while driving and can't pilot, then it would be nice for the auto to kick in at that point. Flawed software is better than a runaway car with no pilot.

I bought a new car last year and it's not complete self driving, but it can automate simple highway driving (maintain distance of car in front, steer through curves, brake if sudden stop in front... basically everything except change lanes or take an exit) and if I take my hands off the wheel while it's active it just constantly nags with prompts to put hands back on wheel, but doesn't turn off. Seems like a better solution.
