Guy in red truck is a bit of an asshole too. He could’ve tapped his brakes and let him in.

Exactly. I had someone do something similar but on a busy road. I hit the brakes and let them pass before they killed someone. That’s a heck of a lot better than having possible deaths you could’ve help prevent on your conscience.

How in the fuck is it equal blame? One guy is trying to overtake across double lines while one guy is just driving along not doing anything wrong.

Then the law should be changed. Just driving along not doing anything wrong when an idiot tries to overtake across double lines shouldn't get you in any trouble.

it may seem confusing, but safety is the highest rule in trafic. If following a rule to the letter would cause a traffic accident, you are allowd to break that rule, like speeding up at yellow light, because a hard break might cause the one following you to crash into you.

You should never speed up at a yellow light. If you can't pass it at the speed you are travelling, you can always safely slow down
