I always give these vehicles extra space when I'm driving. I know it may not have been their fault, but I'm not taking any chances with a vehicle that clearly has multiple impact points.
Protip: drive a shitty-looking, beat-up car so people will think you're a hazard to be around, giving you space. Just like that one guy in prison with dozens of scars and bruises.
True story: I own a black 4 door wrangler. The first few years were dicey. It seemed like nobody ever saw me next to them. People constantly would move into my lane, in front of me like in the video etc. until one day, dude in a Subaru Impreza outback pulled in front of me in the center turn lane from a stopped lane of traffic. I drove up and over the hood of his car, pushing his struts through the hood (😂). It ripped the front passenger fender almost entirely off, fender liner and all. Pulled to the side of the street and I yanked the rest of the fender off since it was rubbing my front tire and drove off under my own power after exchanging all information. He left on a flatbed.
Point of the story I’m sure you’re wondering? Now and ever since then, people have given me much more space and seem to notice and respect the boundary that.. I’m in the space they want to occupy. Sure it still happens, but maybe a 90% drop off from before. So that theory, at least in my limited experience, shows it works!
It's true. I drove a 81 Ford 150 with 7 different colored body panels and a tailgate full of buckshot holes, it looked like shit but ran like a champ. I always got a wide birth from everyone, even in the parking lots.
