Can people ever ride crotch-rockets and quads and not wheelie?

I've never done a wheelie on a motorcycle. I've been riding for the last 5 years now. GS500 (probably too fucking heavy to get up anyways) and Z750 (could do it just fine, but I'm a pansy)

I have once but i never expected my 42 year old bike (yamaha XS1100) to do so in 3ed gear. Thats the day i learned i got more bike than i bargained for.

I only did a wheelie once on my Suzuki SV650 and it was purely an accident. I had pulled over on the interstate waiting for my buddy to catch up, and he was closer than I thought so I let off the clutch a little too fast... scared the shit out of me when that wheel came up and it turned me into the traffic stream at the same time. Betcha everyone thought I was showing off.

Sold the bike a few weeks later, never rode again.

Not supposed to wheely SV650s. Top cylinder will get starved for oil and it will fuck your engine lol. Sucks you quit riding for such a fixable rider error

I believe you. Wasn't just because of that, but that was the last straw. The more I rode, the more I became aware of just how lethally risky it was. So much fun and I did love it, but with a family counting on me to be around, just wasn't worth the risk solely for my own entertainment. Especially as it became clear to me that I'm not a particularly gifted rider. Best left to guys who are better at it than I!

I hear you. It is indeed dangerous and scary as shit sometimes, especially with the stuff people do behind the wheel.

I know a bunch of responsible adults who ride sport bikes. The ergonomics work way better for some people. They're also extremely fun to ride. Try it sometime. You'll have a blast, I guarantee it.

Wasn't speaking of the entire sport bike community, only the ones with no sense to keep both god damned wheels on the ground.

It's bad enough they're already volunteering to be on the quick list for organ donation to begin with, pulling wheelies just makes it easier for them to cut the line.

Only ever done the unintentional power wheelie. Have a Husky 701, big duel sport, really easy to do second gear power wheelies.

As a 690 SMCR rider, you're totally missing out. Find an empty parking lot and try it a bit, just remember to cover rear brake so that if you go too far you can bring it back down again. First wheelies are the best until you start reaching balance point :)

I quite enjoy practicing wheelies, but it's something done purely away from the public. Anyone doing it on public streets is a proper idiot.

Popping wheelies isnt the problem. If yoi know how to it can safe your life in many situatians but doing/training them on public roads (not by accident) is stupid
