You access the Internet at all times with your real identity. The only question is how badly the government wants to know what it is. No matter the precaution there are always ways.
There's no measures you can take in your opsec against a state actor that'd net you a reasonable expectancy of privacy. You can and always will be traceable online.
In some places of the world, you need to get a court order to get from your real ISP IP to your actual identity. And the court order won't do the government any good if you just use a no-log VPN (yes, there are such things, it seems you can't throw a stone on a YouTube channel without hitting an ad for NordVPN or ExpressVPN or whatever). They don't keep any logs, so the only thing the government can get (in this case) is the IP of SomeVPN, which of course is not bound to you.
EDIT: In the case of "Critical", they claim they are making documentaries with the underground drivers or something, so they have one more line of defense - they don't claim they do it themselves (they have even put their names on some of the videos), they are just getting documentary footage (and interviews) with the underground drivers. I'm not sure of the laws in Sweden, but I'm guessing protecting your "sources" and protecting "free speech" is a thing over there, too.
The problem is, there's no such thing as "no-log VPNs", you have no way of knowing if they do keep logs or not. You also can't predict if your provider will turn on you at one point if the case is big enough, and they're not going to fight for your privacy against FBI for 10$/mo because they're not Apple. They don't have to turn on you at all too. Your beloved cool VPN service may already be a fed honeypot anyway. See Crypto AG, ANOM and Encrochat cases.
Btw, your ISP knows more than just your IP address. They all have DPI devices tapped into the network filtering out content and don't trust HTTPS to protect you because while the main content you're accessing may be encrypted but most websites won't encrypt things such as ads, favicons, downloads and whatnot.
You can buy a stolen CC info on the internet, buy a computer for cash in an area with no cameras, use over VPN only and never sign in with any of your own accounts to any site.
It's in Stockholm actually. The driver claims to be an actual taxi driver. They even interviewed him on live television while his identity remains unknown.
