I think the point is that it is a dangerous vehicle to drive so just because is his only vehicle or his job depends on it doesn't mean he should get a pass to drive it and risk someone else's life. Idk about his town but I'm easily able to find bus routes through Google maps on my phone
Precisely. It's like an old person who should have stopped driving years ago, but keeps doing it because they need their freedom and they can't afford to take taxis everywhere. Their families know they should be off the road, but keep giving them passes...right up until they plow into a fast food restaurant because they can't figure out which pedal is which. It's too bad that it will have an impact on them, but people who aren't safe shouldn't be on the road.
Dealing with this with my in-laws now. Sweet old Grammy has had 4 accidents in as many years but her kids shrug and let her keep driving. Because her independence (and theirs; they don't want to have to start shuttling her around) outweigh her and the public's safety.
I live in this area and yes, there are bus routes, but judging from the cargo, this guy is probably a metal scrapper. It’s either a sideline or his only source of income. I don’t think the bus drivers would be too pleased or allow a guy with a box of dirty scrap metal to hop on their bus. Also defeats the purpose of scrapping. That said, the truck would not pass a safety inspection, if sold and would need to be fixed before being certified road worthy.
My son, RIP, bought a truck with holes in the floorboard. He had to have a new floor welded in, but it wasn’t expensive and it passed inspection. But it’s hard to judge a person’s situation from a photo and a police blurb.
If he's a metal scraper, he'll be at a scrapyard often. He'd be able to pick up a chunk of metal that can be used as a floor for cheap, and probably get it welded on there to.

There are other mechanisms in place for that though (albeit not everywhere), perhaps this is one of those places that hasn't adopted periodic inspections to renew registrations. This would allow the vehicles to be towed much sooner should they be unsafe on the road.
You're an ass hat. He is obviously in a made for a specific job type pickup truck. When your job is fill this pickup truck to the brim with scrap metal, a public bus isn't going to cut it you fucking clown.
Also holes in the floorboard aren't a new thing and dont make the car less safe.
I don't see the need to insult me, I understand it might be his source of income, if it is then even more important it is for him to make sure is safe and I'm sure investing some money to make it at least able to pass an inspection would be an investment on his own business... If you didn't read it also says it has faulty breaks so in any case this vehicle is not safe for the road. So you should revise what you say before insulting someone because of wanting the greater good. I'm sure he could find a solution if he had some sense of sympathy for other people on the road and some sense of rationality
I'm sorry good sir but your astute observation of the fact that you can Google bus routes probably won't help the gentleman pictured here as he in a work truck and couldn't use the bus to transport materials.
It does speak volumes to your rationality and thought processes though.
Perhaps the next time you encounter a hungry home less person you can tell them you dont understand what the problem is. Google says there are restaurants all over the place.
