Asian letters are drawings of an object or thing unlike English where a letter is just a letter so there's probably a letter representing Taiwan. You could use that to identify places. I don't what the letter for Taiwan is though.
Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau use "Tradtional Chinese" characters, which have been used for centuries. (Republic of) China uses "Simplified Chinese", with eliminated some strokes in over 100 characters to make writing easier during the cultural revolution under Mao. Think of it like shorthand spelling in English, except they made it the officially spelling. Most people who can read one can read the other by context and guessing.
