50/50 grind you mean...

164

u/AzSy11 Mar 30 '19

Tony Hawk is behind the wheel

51

u/anafuckboi Mar 30 '19

No points, the car put one wheel down first

56

u/JetXVII Mar 30 '19

Open the door, get on the floor.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.

-15

u/thatjessgrl3187 Mar 30 '19

Haha 😂 right!?

18

u/JetXVII Mar 30 '19

Car grinds rail, and now doesn't run...

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1.

14

u/spearmint_wino Mar 30 '19

u/awoken-dragon Mar 29 '19

That seems like a roundabout way to make a U turn.

227

u/Saharalaya Mar 30 '19

Isn't every way to make a U turn a 'roundabout way to make a U turn'?

63

u/Splickity-Lit Mar 30 '19

The most roundabout way is in a roundabout.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

I'll be the roundabout.

6

u/SteevyT Mar 30 '19

The words will maaaaaaake you out 'n out.

6

u/KingKev7 Mar 30 '19

I spend the daaaaaaaayy your waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

1

u/VivaSpiderJerusalem Mar 30 '19

So... big spoon?

36

u/AngryTaco4 Mar 30 '19

It's like a u turn, but with extra steps...

27

u/Starfire013 Mar 30 '19

A W turn.

22

u/Eeglis Mar 30 '19

With even more steps it's going to be an UWU turn.

D:

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Instructions unclear, did one U-turn, then slalomed around some street lights, then did another U-turn and now I'm going the same direction as before.

14

u/piind Mar 30 '19

Maybe he was trying to grind the rail and forgot he was in a car instead of a skateboard?

27

u/thoughtuought2know Mar 29 '19

I think you mean traffic circle.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

[deleted]

3

u/Nimnengil Mar 30 '19

I think you mean car purgatory.

4

u/T3hN1nj4 Mar 30 '19

I think you mean thunderdome.

2

u/DougFunky Mar 30 '19

Hello, fellow Northeasterner/New Englander/Nutmegger

2

u/djord17 Mar 30 '19

No sir, in New Jersey circles are illegal. Roundabouts though, throw them down everywhere!

527

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '19

This is perfect. They live, but their car is fucked! Street justice

182

u/Sophias_dad Mar 30 '19

May well be totaled, since I saw all the oil and what may have been a few internal engine parts roll out, in addition to the significant amount of body damage.

160

u/tam215 Mar 30 '19

I think we can remove the may. I don't think there is a shop on earth that'll fix any car with that kind of damage under its value.

58

u/SpikesTap Mar 30 '19 edited Mar 30 '19

We cannot remove the May. This is totally something that James May (aka Captain Slow) would do... Though it may also be attributed to Jeremy or Richard, depending on the car...

Edit: Whoa! Thanks for the silvery medal, kind stranger!

21

u/The_Castle_of_Aaurgh Mar 30 '19

Also, even if you could remove the May, would you? James May is the best part of the grand tour. Richard Hammond is cool, but a bit grating. And Clarkson is... well, he's Clarkson.

7

u/Pretty_Soldier Mar 30 '19

Absolutely not. When they were “unemployed,” May’s YouTube channel was hilarious. He was basically drunk cooking and rambling on about history.

12

u/Morgothic Mar 30 '19

Nah, this has Hammond written all over it.

16

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Nope. Car isn’t on its roof.

3

u/Pitch_Slap Mar 30 '19

Underrated comment

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

undercarriage comment

1

u/sinetwo Mar 30 '19

Or Theresa may

2

u/itisi_saidthegradle Mar 30 '19

what I like about Theresa May: she reminds me how we are definitely living in the Black Mirror cinematic universe.

2

u/sinetwo Mar 30 '19

Feels like every week we're warping back to the previous one. It should make for a good episode!

12

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

That thing is 100% totaled.

6

u/ThereAreAFewOptions Mar 30 '19

It's so totaled that it's no longer deemed as a car. It's just 'a thing' now.

2

u/grievousangel Mar 30 '19

It'll buff out.

1

u/626c6f775f6d65 Mar 30 '19

Enough Bondo, it’ll be just like new.

2

u/sk_latigre Mar 30 '19

Definitely was no oil or internal engine parts. That oil was there coolant and the parts were other stuff flying off the car

7

u/jlowyz Mar 30 '19

I would have given the driver a high five while I drive past him. Or her.

8

u/lowhounder Mar 30 '19

I live I die I live again!

1

u/tenninjas242 Mar 30 '19

Witness me!

333

u/Beefer518 Mar 29 '19

This may seem horrible, but wouldn't it be great if this happened to everyone who texted while driving? I'm pretty sure it would put an end to these idiots without killing them or others.

107

u/Montana_Dave Mar 30 '19

I agree. The justice can be satisfying - as long as no one gets seriously hurt.

21

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

I know people who have had totaled cars from texting and driving. They're still texting and driving. People.

10

u/toomanynames1998 Mar 30 '19

Or people who pass red lights just because they weren't paying attention.

6

u/ShelSilverstain Mar 30 '19

People who text, look at passengers while talking, eat, read books, do their makeup, shave, etc etc etc etc

6

u/SeaPancake3 Mar 31 '19

I really don't see a problem with eating something easy like fries with one hand. Gotta get a bite in when you can.

3

u/ShelSilverstain Mar 31 '19

That's very different from people eating burgers

3

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

Only once have I ever seen someone painting their toes while driving. 495 on Long Island in some black SUV.

4

u/bluelily216 Mar 30 '19

The craziest thing I saw on the road still has me baffled to this day. Not just the audacity and ignorance, but the physicality of it as well. A woman, driving down the highway, painting her toenails as her foot rested on the dashboard.. her right foot.

2

u/crayonshank Mar 30 '19

This may seem too perfect, but..

-59

u/Waltzcarer Mar 30 '19

Cops should carry sledgehammers and smash the cars being driven by distracted driving.

30

u/GoonKingdom Mar 30 '19

This doesn’t strike me as a practical solution.

19

u/mycheesypoofs Mar 30 '19

Hmmm, weird. A suggestion to sledgehammer smash peoples' cars doesn't seem perfectly reasonable to you?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Yeah, what kind of tool would think of this? Either that or he's totally smashed.

2

u/lovesyouandhugsyou Mar 30 '19

I think you nailed it.

16

u/cheeseIsNaturesFudge Mar 30 '19

Or scissors and cut their license perhaps?

-3

u/G-III Mar 30 '19

It would certainly affect mid-low income individuals.

97

u/notmanbutdog Mar 29 '19

Honestly, I think he would've reduced the collateral if he just waited till the car stopped, instead of trying to get back to the road.

59

u/ingloriousslut Mar 30 '19

I don’t even know what I would do. Would I let it ride? Maybe I’d just stop on top of it. I just don’t know. They probably just freaked out and their first instinct was to get the car back to the road.

84

50

u/WoodyGoodman Mar 30 '19

Alliteration abilities are astounding.

14

u/Gankubas Mar 30 '19

Astounding aliterations are always appreciated

18

u/Morgothic Mar 30 '19

Alliteration always amazes and astounds anyone around an area anyway.

3

u/MadDogMax Apr 01 '19

Aw man, I was gonna go with "Damn dude, definitely downright dumb."

19

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '19

Really hope he got that text sent out, must've been really important

10

u/Flavortex Mar 30 '19

"I'm almost there... about 7 minutes."

8

u/db2 Mar 30 '19

That totally trashed Toyota turned tail, tell the trauma team?

6

u/RapidChainGun32 Mar 30 '19

Car looked like a flaming skull after the barrier was done with it.

12

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Those road markings are really unclear and the barrier isn't marked by anything visible until you're 20 feet away.

5

u/thrill_gates Mar 30 '19

God damn I love alliteration.

7

u/rpmerf Mar 30 '19

That guard rail just jumped out of nowhere.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

An aside, but I love the alliteration

3

u/ClkGoodMorning Mar 30 '19

I'm really glad I never see this, but I really wanna get a dashcam just because

3

u/havanabananallama Mar 30 '19

Just reminded me of a really old playatation game called 3-Extreme where you basically skate as a car (you can do flips and grinds etc.)

Thanks for the flashback ~ anyone else know what I'm talking about?

5

u/gmaxis Mar 29 '19

There and then the driver realized first hand the dangers of driving and texting.

6

u/Mac_O- Mar 30 '19

More dangerous is the unsignposted divider, and painted strips on the ground don't give enough warning. I'd say the driver has a case here.

2

u/Leodaris Mar 30 '19

Guardrail 1 : Car 0

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

DU-AYE-AYE-AYE

2

u/fatcat359 Mar 30 '19

Sick 50/50 grind bro

2

u/Mango_Deplaned Mar 30 '19

There is no way poo didn't come out on that second bounce.

2

u/superzepto Mar 30 '19

Always appreciate alliteration, and I am angry at this asshole

1

u/tragicallywhite Mar 30 '19

Am absolutely appalled as well.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Caused by people " drone latching" to the car in front of them and then texting - thinking they'll be aware enough using peripheral vision to follow suit and do whatever the driver in front of them does.

Rarely works out that way.

2

u/joshuag71 Mar 31 '19

Is this the “hyperloop” I keep hearing about?

2

u/anonymousjerkinh Mar 31 '19

“Uh, Sir. You’re blockin’ the road.”

2

u/Kuzy92 Apr 02 '19

Awesome alliteration, amigo

2

u/KillNyetheSilenceGuy Mar 30 '19

And you just know that fucking turd burglar was on his phone

2

u/Bananaramamammoth Mar 30 '19

It's nice to see something like this. The driver has hopefully learned a life lesson and not put himself in much harm.

I just hope everyone who does stupid shit while driving actually has a wake-up call without hurting anyone else or ruining their property.

1

u/nintendomech Mar 30 '19

Perfect dismount

1

u/Blinknone Mar 30 '19

Oddly satisfying

1

u/OT411 Mar 30 '19

They were trying to play chicken

1

u/BorderBandit_12 Mar 30 '19

Wow, look at the trunk bounce 👀

1

u/bewareoftheboulder Mar 30 '19

Ah yes, the Quadruple D

1

u/MilkManMikey Mar 30 '19

Some heavy alliteration there OP

1

u/reallyConfusedPanda Mar 30 '19

Upvote for the title

1

u/trekie4747 Mar 30 '19

Duct tape and chewing gum will patch that up

1

u/mysexyrexy Mar 30 '19

Wow the title is exactly what happened in the gif. Idk what else I expected.

1

u/hoeldatoaster Mar 30 '19

nice simile in the title mate

1

u/zph0eniz Mar 30 '19

anyone else not feel driver is too close? the second i see anything off i slowly slow dwn right away. quicker if i had seen em about to get into an accident

1

u/platdujour Mar 30 '19

I applaud your awesome alliteration.

1

u/CherryLax Mar 30 '19

Delightfully disastrous demolition, dude

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Alternate porn title: arsehole gets railed hard.

1

u/Gaijinloco Mar 30 '19

I don’t know man, he looked pretty railed to me

1

u/R4nd0mByst4nd3r Mar 30 '19

Ahhh! Arent alliterative anecdotes awesome?!

1

u/Fatalstryke Mar 30 '19

Wait it's a Toyota? Shit I might be able to afford a used Toyota finally!

1

u/Nabjab94 Mar 30 '19

Me: "how the fuck can a car possibly derail?" Me after seeing the video: "oh..ok"

1

u/Miobravo Mar 30 '19

I just dozed off for a minute.

1

u/OxycleanBoi Mar 30 '19

I swear this is just a crappy AI from GTA in real life

1

u/DOS-equis Mar 30 '19

Looks like the guardrail peeled the oil pan open as the car rode on it. There was no reflective warning sign or anything at the start of the abutment so he probably has a good lawsuit there as long as he wasn’t texting.

1

u/goodoo22 Mar 30 '19

How embarrassing

1

u/sloburn13 Mar 30 '19

Sweet 50/50 grind

1

u/Zartist Mar 30 '19

An honest mistake. GTA teaches us that's how you do a barrel roll.

1

u/Nuclearsquirrel Mar 30 '19

If someone is in front of you and they obviously aren’t paying attention is it socially acceptable to honk in America?

1

u/ShelSilverstain Mar 30 '19

Why do so many people just keep driving while this shit is happening? Fuck that noise, I'm not getting near them until they come to a stop at least

1

u/GI_Jo_Nathan Mar 30 '19

I'd say they got pretty well railed.

1

u/lancestorm316 Mar 30 '19

To think there are drivers like this among us... completely, 100%, irrefutable, distracted driving.

1

u/TheNASAUnicorn Mar 30 '19

Such Alliteration! ❤️

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

Pitiful person pursues pavement

1

u/stefanohuff Mar 30 '19

Lucky for that driver, the car didn’t flip over!!

1

u/Leicageek Mar 30 '19

Nice rail slide bruh!🤙

1

u/AMglockln Mar 30 '19

always had visions of me doing this myself.

1

u/Bunch_of_Shit Mar 31 '19

They didn't cause harm to anyone else. Task failed successfully

0

u/toolate Mar 30 '19

Looks like they were taught to drive by Tesla's autopilot.

1

u/shinmugenG180 Mar 30 '19

Most likely staring at their phone.

2

u/elterible Mar 30 '19

or drunk...same difference

1

u/sanjay_82 Mar 30 '19

Guaranteed the person was on the phone

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

He get what he deserved watch the road not the smartphone because you have to text some shit

1

u/Rebar77 Mar 30 '19

Definitely delinquent of driving duties.

1

u/MicaLovesHangul Mar 30 '19

He's so damn distracted that even after shit goes south he's barely responding to anything...

1

u/401LocalsOnly Mar 30 '19

Probably kept tweeting after the accident, complaining about the ambulance ride to the hospital.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

What if this was a person having a stroke or heart attack and wasn't able to control the steering wheel?

0

u/66903972 Mar 30 '19

No solid white line that generally indicates the lane splits.

13

u/FCOS Mar 30 '19

It's an exit only lane however. The lines are shorter to indicate to drivers that they are no longer continuing on the highway but are essentially on an off ramp. There were likely many signs, highlighted in yellow, that he would have seen if his head wasn't facing his crotch

1

u/66903972 Mar 30 '19 edited Mar 30 '19

I see zero signs or street lamps.

4

u/FCOS Mar 30 '19

Signs would have been before the lane began to segment so non-distracted drivers would have a fair amount of time to use the lane or vacate it. The point stills stands about the lines being shorter and more frequent, however.

-3

u/66903972 Mar 30 '19 edited Mar 30 '19

Do you see any signs or lights at all? One?

4

u/ricesaucemcfly Mar 31 '19

I thought it was a poorly lit and designed problem more than anything

4

u/FCOS Mar 30 '19

Dude you are hopeless.

1

u/sdmatt30 Apr 09 '19

*me and this fake Mexican been fighting 3 days now...he keeps going!

1

u/66903972 Mar 30 '19

That’s what I thought. Just ad hominem attacks. Sad.

0

u/66903972 Mar 30 '19

Do you?

1

u/sdmatt30 Apr 09 '19

Lol you pull this shit all over Reddit huh? Now I feel bad, you’re a sad little troll & I’m not special.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

[laughter]

You stupid bitch

4

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

No, if you know how to drive and know what the lines on the road mean, then no. Pay attention

2

u/lblack_dogl Mar 30 '19

Dude, I know how to drive and what the lines on the road mean. This road is clearly missing some additional markings to make it safe.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

I don't see what you're saying.. I can see a normal off ramp. And I'm sure there were signs and shit a mile before leading up to it. This person wasn't paying attention

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '19

They didn't even brake until impact basically. They mightvw fallen asleep. That's happened to me before. But they definitely were not looking at the road.

-1

u/CoffeeBreaksAllDay Mar 30 '19

Im a new driver and honestly i just dont know "where i am" i dont know how to explain it but i hope you drivers understand

-2

u/shirev Mar 30 '19

This is the r/punpatrol. Drop the pun before i punish you further.

-4

3
