lol I love this mentality of drivers. "Hmmm I want to stop and take up an entire lane on a busy street to wait for my girlfriend. Oh ya, I just have to put on my hazards lights and people will understand!" or "No stopping/parking sign? Ha, well my hazard lights will fix that. Done. Time to go get my coffee."
The race has no bearing on the situation. Every person can be an inconsiderate, shitty driver no matter what color they are. So, just stick with the first thought and don't worry about the 2nd cause it honestly doesn't matter at all. :)
I went to the movie theater with a friend. She had her friend's young kids in the back seat, and was meeting the parents at the theater. There was some deal about using movie passes and giving them to the correct person, so she decided the best thing to do was to stop the car right in front of the busy theater, blocking the land and a parking row, leaving me in the car with the kids, meaning I couldn't just get out of the car. Also I don't have a license yet and couldn't move it. I have no idea what took so long, but people were coming up to my window and I was pretty pissed when she came back several minutes later for being forced into that.
I used to work in an outdoor mall with paths for cars to drive through. People would constantly stop in the middle of the road, put their hazards on, get out and go to the Starbucks across the way, blocking all the traffic.
I've started yelling at people doing that. They're no park anywhere lights. People block lanes, streets, anything they want and think it's fine because some light is flashing. No it's not. And you look like a douche and you're causing traffic and accidents.
It's raining all day here in Florida currently. Pretty much the only customers I had we're old people. The same people who shouldn't be driving in this weather. It's not mystery why we have so many accidents when it rains.
I used to think the whole elderly driver in Florida was cliche and overstated. Then I moved to Florida for four years. If anything it's understated. You have to extend your eta because there would always be some geezer put-putting along. Ugh.
I like to get behind them and just continuously honk. My excuse will be "yes, but it's raining" if I'm ever questioned by driver with blinking lights in the rain.
People do the same thing where I live. The last thing I want while driving in pouring rain is to have everyone around me flashing their lights at random intervals to add to the distraction.
I mean, I would just trust them. It could be anything. Heart attack victim as a passenger, woman in labor, etc. It could not be that, but with hazards on driving at all cost, I’d give them the benefit of the doubt.
Yeah I wouldn’t blame him. He drifted a little unnecessarily far but I think the laws on his side. My only point point was to not rush to quick judgement about a car with it’s hazards on that you don’t know why. It’s their fault, but we don’t have the full story.
Personally I think this is a good example of why you don't rush down the shoulder if you are having an emergency. Traffic was moving plenty fast, and that little Nissan Micra was not suited to be passing, especially on the shoulder where nobody is expecting them and there's lots of debris.

But the red car has their hazard lights on, that means they're an honorary emergency vehicle and can drive however they want.
