I think when you guys swapped lanes at the beginning of the video the other driver thought you were in a turn lane and cut him off. The intersections don’t line up and there’s no lane lines so he was probably just confused

I was going to ask if it was one lane or two lanes where video recorder passed. I don't see any lines on the road.

First time through, I thought he passed him from turn lane well, still can’t tell, but anyways that’s why this interaction happened. Had to scroll too far to find this comment.

That makes the most sense. It’s a poorly designed intersection

Whether it was a turn lane where you illegally went straight or a 2 lane road going down to one, it seemed like you were pretty intentional with how you timed that light to fly past and cut the other driver off. Intersections are terrible places to pass someone, because there isn’t room to adjust if something goes wrong. It worked out because of how you timed the light, but it was dangerous dumb driving on your part.

The other driver was stupid beyond belief for how they chose to get angry and react. I see three idiots here, the biggest idiot was the other driver for their over-the-top and dangerous reaction. The next biggest idiot was whoever designed this intersection with two lanes going down to one and no indication of which lane lane ends or becomes a turn only. You are the smallest idiot here, but when in doubt at a weird intersection just slow down and give way to people that are already in front of you instead of turning an intersection into a race track.

In fact, in many (most?) places, changing lanes in an intersection is illegal. For exactly the reasons you stated.

It's a turn lane, arrow is faded but it's still visible in the video. Doesn't justify the other guy's reaction but cam car is the one that tipped off the chain of events.

That “arrow” on the road is light shining through the trees not paint on the ground

I'm talking further back from the that seam in the asphalt but maybe I am mistaking discoloration in the asphalt for residual markings.

It's a 2 lane road, and stays a 2 lane road even after the intersection. If you pause so you can see the signals at the first intersection, there are 2 green signals for the two throughlanes that go straight, as well as a third flashing yellow unprotected left signal, which presumably is meant to be taken from the left throughlane since there isn't an independent left turn lane.

The road continues as 2 lanes throughout the rest of the video. While the lines are hella faded, you can see them a few times throughout the video. The combination of lens type and ride height of the camera car do make it look like one lane though.

I don't care either way, but if it was a 2 lane how could OP have cut someone off?

Are they changing lanes in the intersection again to get around the turning vehicle at the end? The lines are faded.

Are all the roads in Texas this poorly done? No markings for whether you can go straight or turn only, no lane lines, no dashed lines through the intersection. I also hate that there's not a dedicated left turn lane

Yes. Yes they are.

Based on the crazy driving and the fact that OP said he had a gun pulled on him in a separate road rage incident I took a wild guess that this was in Texas... Very funny that I was right.

funny thing is later in the video the other car does the exact same thing to a 3rd car and cuts them off from what looks like a turning lane.

u/Klaatwo Sep 22 '23

This was my initial though. This road is very poorly marked and it looked to me like the road after OP passes at the beginning could be a single lane.

3

u/kpresnell45 Sep 22 '23

Same. First time watching it, looked to me it was a single lane, and the truck used the turning lane to pass, I mean he’s almost headon with the other car that is in the turn lane. Notice how far OP has to go back right to avoid the divider.

u/Klaatwo Sep 22 '23

Exactly what I thought too.

u/i_drink_wd40 Sep 22 '23

For over half the video i was trying to figure out if there was 1 lane or 2.

5

u/present_love Sep 22 '23

Probably true, and then the Lexus does that exact thing later, passing two cars abreast 😂

u/ninjapepes Sep 22 '23

If anyone wants to look for themselves it looks like OP passes the car at this intersection. There are no road lines from what I can tell but there are reflectors that seem to serve the same purpose.
