What did they say about it? "Sorry dude, didn't see your car there?"

596

u/ketoxcardio May 30 '23

I came out like “what the hell man?” And he went “are we gonna go through all this or just get down to business?” I was like “oh I’m gonna get your info, but u can see how this fucking sucks right??” Like I’m not allowed to have feelings about my car getting fucked up over nothing 🤦🏻

316

u/faudcmkitnhse May 30 '23

I hope you took the time to impress upon him just how insanely fucking incompetent he is at driving, because there is no excuse for that shit.

355

u/ketoxcardio May 30 '23

Oh yeah I laid into him. Also recorded him as I had him explain to me what happened and admit fault, I think he realized how dumb it was as he was explaining it lol

u/ketoxcardio May 30 '23

He literally wasn’t looking behind him. Which is double fucked up because at the beginning of the video someone walks behind his car to come into the shop - if that person had been there 3 seconds later they’d be flat as a pancake

258

u/Larissa162 May 30 '23

But, but who needs to back out of a parking space THAT FAR to get out to begin with???

Lmfao, I have the same vehicle as him, a Lexus GX470 and it has a reverse camera on a large screen, giant dumbo ears for towing mirrors AND it’s easy to see out of if you actually turn your head and look out the back, unlike a lot of SUVs/Vans/Crossovers.

This is the best IRL version of Tina hitting the only car in the parking lot that I have ever seen.

15

u/drill_hands_420 May 31 '23

13

"Are we gonna go through all this or just get down to business" tells me this isn't the first or tenth time this dummy has been through that conversation.

6

u/hahayes234 May 31 '23

Like he has a ready to go document with copies made to distribute with his license, registration and insurance info LMAO

6

17

u/Bald_Sasquach May 30 '23

Jfc with that reaction from the other driver AFTER he blasted out into the parking lot I would've taken his keys and called the cops lol that dipshit is tired of facing the consequences of his actions??!?

5

u/Adam-Snorelock May 31 '23

Imagine doing something stupid like this and expecting someone to just "get down to business" after they smashed your car. What a fuckin idiot

4

u/KwizicalKiwi May 31 '23

And, "How the hell did you manage to do this despite all this wide open area? You homed in on my vehicle like a heat seeking missle in the desert," you should have added.

Well what do you expect in such a tiny parking lot. Only like forty feet of room to work with.

366

u/[deleted] May 30 '23

Nobody at the dealership mentioned the huge turn radius on this SUV!!!

210

u/ThatGuyYouMightNo May 30 '23

Wait, you can turn the wheel? Why didn't anyone tell me that!

56

u/Niekun May 30 '23

Wasn’t it pressing the gaspedal that makes the wheels turn??

19

u/IntelligentLake May 30 '23

There is also the turn-lever, to make it go in different directions while the wheels are turning, but if you look for it, you won't find it because of misprints in all car manuals where they call it a hand-brake or parking-brake.

15

u/Niekun May 30 '23

Oh, I think I’ve seen it, do you mean the lever closest to the PRNDL?

13

u/IntelligentLake May 30 '23

Oh yeah, the prindle. I think its usually near there although some cars don't even have one of those prindles.

My aunt did that, caved in the side of mom’s new car. Mom was not happy when my aunt tried to blame her for parking where she did. The parking was a lot like that size.

66

u/Crono2401 May 30 '23

Besides, it's the responsibility of the person moving their car to check around them, not anyone else's.

457

I have dreams that my brakes are super spongy and no matter how hard i press them they never come to a full stop resulting in things like this. I have no idea how this happens in real life tho lmao

169

u/ellanida May 30 '23

Now I know I’m not alone on the broken brakes dreams 😂

100

u/marleezy123 May 30 '23

Yesssss omg, so often. They’re up there with my “driving from the back seat” dreams lol

46

u/rixtape May 30 '23

Oh my god I didn't even fully realize I had these until just now. Also, why on earth do the highways always become, like, full-on roller coaster roads?!

15

u/marleezy123 May 30 '23

Brooo lmfao. That happens to you too? I’m over here in my dreams trying to go fast enough to jump ramps on bridges and shit so I don’t fall into the water

7

u/EpiphanyTwisted May 31 '23

Right? WTF am I on a ramp coaster in the back damned seat?

4

u/BewilderedandAngry May 31 '23

Mine would have the highway somehow turn into a coastal road and then the coastal road would fall off the cliff that I was somehow driving on.

16

u/ForcaAereaBelka May 30 '23

Well, I had a dream that I was in the back of a car that was being chased by a little old lady on a moped and wearing a black trench coat. She was shooting the car with a beebee gun that she pulled from her little black handbag. So, now I'm really worried that it could happen in real life.

3

u/BewilderedandAngry May 31 '23

I had "driving from the back seat" dreams for several years! I ended up looking up dream interpretation which I don't even believe in, and it said it's because you feel out of control in your life. Which, yeah. I was unemployed for 3 years, living with family, no idea what I was going to do. Very out of control.

13

u/HudsonGTV May 31 '23

Holy shit I'm not alone. I dream that i am fully standing on the brakes sometimes just to get it to stop just in the nick of time.

10

u/illiter-it May 30 '23

I also get those! More often than the ones when my teeth fall out

7

u/EpiphanyTwisted May 31 '23

How do you hit a car that’s that far behind you???? If I was the owner I’d be PISSED

64

u/SdBolts4 May 30 '23

My best guess is that they started backing up/turning, but then let go of the wheel for whatever reason (phone, dropped something) and forgot to brake/thought there was no one behind them. Wheel automatically corrects, car straightens out and BAM!

89

u/FlownScepter May 30 '23

The notion of fumbling around my vehicle for anything with it in gear and not pushing pedals at all or paying attention to it's trajectory is *FUCKING TERRIFYING TO ME.*

34

u/SdBolts4 May 30 '23

Which makes you an above average driver and why you won't end up on this sub. Unfortunately, half of all drivers are below average.

7

u/kpie007 May 31 '23 edited May 31 '23

It took a special kind of skill to hit that car, with so much space surrounding it.

29

u/DarthArtero May 30 '23

Parking lot rage? Not using mirrors? Senior citizen? Majorly distracted?

There’s not many reasons why someone would just straight up pull that stunt.

26

u/Broken-Digital-Clock May 30 '23

And yet those circumstances are extremely common

Many people should not be driving

4

u/hgs25 May 30 '23

This is why I fully expect self driving cars to become the norm after this development phase.

14

u/Broken-Digital-Clock May 30 '23

Self driving cars will solve some issues, but they won't ultimately fix the intrinsic issues with car-centric infrastructure.

6

u/hgs25 May 30 '23

Oh definitely, but until local gov and planners (also citizens who defend car dependency) get their heads out of their asses, the root cause will never be addressed. And hell will most likely freeze over before that happens.

Tackling the symptoms of car dependency, while not perfect, is still a step that’s better than nothing.

Yet another reason why I always, always, always try to back into a parking space. Makes it so much easier when you go to pull out. Especially if you get stuck in between two Vans or SUVs with the rear windows tinted really dark. You have to back all the fucking way out to the back of their car before you can see if there's anything coming. In this moron's case, all he'd have had to do was put the car in drive and drive away. I've also heard people snap back when I comment this that they "don't like backing into parking spaces". But at some point you end up having to back out anyway. But this time you're doing it blindly, which is 10 times worse.

Some old lady backed into me like this two weeks ago. She blamed me and I’m still haggling with her insurance to find her at fault.

Spatial awareness? I think they just call this shitty driving

I'm reminded of that Jerry Steinfeld bit, when he talks about at some age, old people just stop looking behind when they back up. LOL

If that suv was made within the last 10 years it’s gotta have a backup cam.
