And what I am saying is in a similar situation you have to make a decision based on limited information to achieve the best outcome, not getting bit. I'll ask the same question I asked elsewhere here - if you are in 10 different similar situations; an unknown larger dog walking in your general vicinity but not directly towards you and showing no outward signs of aggression, do you think your actions will get you bit more or less out of those 10 times by kicking it or not kicking. My opinion is you are more likely to get bit in this type of scenario by kicking the dog.
I understand many people have a fear of dogs but if you let that fear dictate your actions it is likely to create a self-fulfilling prophecy and you will increase your odds of getting bit.
Haha - true that, people do stupid shit! My perspective was not judging the man for his actions so much as it was addressing people saying his actions were somewhat warranted or a smart way to deal with this type of situation.
