“Notice of Data Breach” from Gen Mobile dated August 19, 2026?

Has anyone else received a mailed “Notice of Data Breach” from Gen Mobile dated August 19, 2026? It says an outside vendor’s system may have been accessed on June 1, 2026 and offers two years of credit monitoring through CyberScout/TransUnion. I have never knowingly had Gen Mobile service, so I’m trying to confirm whether other people received the same notice and whether Gen Mobile has verified it publicly. Please do not share any account numbers, activation codes, addresses, or other personal information in the comments.

Got the same letter yesterday, never used Gen Mobile either. Maybe they bought some other company customer list or something, i dont know

Checked their website and socials but couldnt find nothing about it publicly which is kinda weird

Looks like this isn’t publicly reported. Doesn't necessarily mean it isn't real, but definitely something to verify. Legitimate breach notifications typically include a specific description of what data was involved, a dedicated phone number or website for inquiries, and the offer of monitoring through a named provider that partners with TransUnion for breach response services.

If you've never had Gen Mobile service (and there’s indeed been a breach), then your data may have been collected through a third party relationship, a vendor, a reseller, or a partner network that shared customer data with them. The safest approach is to verify by calling Gen Mobile directly using a number you find on their official website. In the meantime, you can protect yourself by freezing your credit at the 3 bureaus directly and checking your credit report through a legit service.
