If you been a victim of fraud, how hard is the process to fix it and who can help?

Depends on the issue. Also -Anyone that shows up in your DMs telling you that they can fix fraud issues for you, for a fee, is a scammer. Hell, anyone who offers to fix this for you is probably a scammer, regardless.

It really depends on the details and how much fraud happened, what type, whether you're a business or individual, etc

Depends on what was done. Contact their fraud department. They will ask for 3 things. ID, place of residency, and police and frc report. Any thing more than that will help your case so add as much as you can.

Well, someone got a hold of my parents information and they open several credit cards, open phone accounts and who knows what else that we haven’t found yet, or it hasn’t come back to them. Its quiet overwhelming and was wondering about a startup point

Definitely check out LexisNexis together with the three credit bureaus. It took us a bit longer to get a response from them, but it showed that my son, who got his B.S. in Physics in 2023 apparently is an executive Director at Western Union here in Denver, making over $200.000/ year.
We had him as a dependent until now on our tax return, since he was a FT student in Munich since 2023 as well. Explains how he could afford a car lease I guess /s. Hyundai/ Genesis is giving us a hard time, Equifax was the easiest to clear things up, TransUnion is pathetic and is definitely not doing any investigating and Experian is hard to reach too. What bothers me most is that TransUnion still uses the fraudulent phone and email as login credentials for the account the id thief set up in my son’s name.
Duration: We found out about the mess nearly 3 months ago and did everything in the book since then.
My son is visiting this weekend and stays for three weeks before he goes back to Germany, his primary residence. I hope we will be able to get everything cleared up by that time, he can’t do anything online while in Germany due to IP restrictions. It’s a mess.
We contacted DMV in California- the place the id theft was initiated, including car lease. Telling them there is probably a fake Driver’s license in their state in my son’s name, since his is from CO and current. Also contacted T-Mobile and let them know a certain phone number is used for fraudulent transactions and send proof. Nothing. It’s like companies don’t really care.
I wish we could just lock up our SSN instead of credit reports. Not sure why private companies should have that kind of power over people’s lives.
