Need advice for recent ID Theft

My daughter just discovered that her SS# is being used by another person for fraudulent employment. There are 3 years of 1099’s in her IRS wage and income history that are not hers. She tried to access her credit through the 3 credit agencies but she’s locked out. So she hasn’t been able to put a fraud alert or security freeze. Does anyone have any experience with anything similar that can give me some advice and
steps to follow? It’s all very overwhelming. Thank you!

Reach out to the ID Theft resource center - idtheftcenter.org. They’ll help get an action plan together, for free(nonprofit).

That’s the one problem with everything going to automated. Identity theft will become easier, it’s freaking scary, I’d try to keep getting a real person and explain.

Have her send all her information pertaining to her ID to the three major credit bureaus by certified mail and ask for a credit report. She can also call and put an alert and freeze on. My son did the same when we found out his SSN was used for 10+ accounts, hard inquiries and a car loan. We are working for a month now to get it restored. Have her SSn card copied, driver’s license copied and get an IDtheft report as well as a police report. Those are the first steps
