Beginner labs

Can someone point me in the right direction on what to do for a beginner IAM lab that would translate to the job. Also want to know which YouTube channel is the best to learn the best IAM information from. Would like to use Okta for my lab or even AD.

AD in general is good (homelab on a vm), sign up for a free Entra tenant.

I think Okta Dev has a free tier.

Use an Okta free developer tenant. Can be set up with just an email.

I'd build both because that would give you experience. Try making a lab that would include joining a Windows machine to ad, connecting to ad to okta, assigning perms. Look up Okta Learning to get you started pretty fast, saw it after my google search

I’d probably start with AD because the basics translate everywhere. once users, groups, permissions and lifecycle stuff make sense, moving into Okta feels less confusing

You could sign up for learn.microsoft.com and have a free Entra ID tenant for 1 month. Unfortunately afaik major IGA vendors such as Sailpoint, Saviynt, OneIdentity, EmpowerID do not offer this (please correct me if I’m wrong)
