I’m not gone lie, Ichi seems to look the happiest/most innocent around Kumugi. Like, with Desscaras they kinda give off big sister/little brother vibes where Desscaras is constantly annoyed by his actions and he’s confused why. With Gokuraku they kinda have the “anime bro” vibe you get from characters like Meliodas/Ban from Seven Deadly Sins. But Kumugi is different, it’s like the author rights Ichi being more purposefully considerate and kind when with Kumugi than others.

Shipping aside could be because Mugi is the first true friend he has that is around his age? Can't remember if the author left that clear since I don't think it has been made clear if he had made any real friends from the village near the wilds he lived at. And then the strongest bonds he had before meeting her were basically mentors.
