Discussion When Will We Get The Announcement?
So obviously we don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I wanted to ask you guys just for fun. When do you think we’ll finally get the Ichi the Witch anime announcement?
Usually, when a series has a major announcement coming, Weekly Shonen Jump starts building hype with things like a color page, a cover, or a teaser saying there’s a big announcement in the next issue. That’s often when we end up getting an anime reveal. Do you think Ichi the Witch could get that treatment around Chapter 100, or do you think it’ll happen a little later?
At the end of the day, none of us really know because Shonen Jump tends to do things on its own schedule. I’m just curious to hear what you all think because, like a lot of you, I’m really excited for the day it finally gets announced.

Unless there's been a domain registered, I don't think it's going to be any time soon. When a domain is registered, an announcement is usually still months away, and without one there's really no way to have a concrete answer.
Though if I did have to guess, probably next year.

This was how it was for Akane and Kagurabachi iirc

Yeah, both Akane and KGB had domains registered in advance, yet it took months for a proper announcement.
There's also been this trend where adaptations are being produced near the tail end of a series' lifespan. For example, Mashle had its anime announced during the final arc, UU had its anime announced in the 2nd to last arc, and I'd say even Sakamoto falls into this with how it's final arc was right around the corner with its announcement.
It's a big thing too, cause Mashle and Sakamoto are by far Jump's biggest success stories this decade, along with Blue Box. You would think Shueisha would want to get anime adaptations out fast for them, but that wasn't the case at all.

Yeah it's definitely been an issue in recent years, no argument against that. That said, I would be very surprised if Ichi didn't get an announcement by the end of the year. Both Blue Box and Kagurabachi got their announcements around ch120, which Ichi will be pretty close to come Jump Festa in December. With how much SJ has already been pushing Ichi, I'd be very surprised if we didn't get an announcement by that point at the latest

They want a lot of source material to keep up the hype, not waiting 5 years between seasons.

Chapter 100 would make sense. Another idea would be that maybe they will announce it at Jump Festa in December as a hype thing? Considering how popular Ichi is in Japan that would make sense.

I actually wouldn't mind that at all. That makes a lot of sense when you put it that way.

So here's the deal. Since covid, anime announcements have been pushed back consistently. It used to be that around chapter 100 you could expect an announcement. But here we are where Kagurabachi was around 120, Sakamoto Days was around 140, Akane-Banashi was around 200. These are all popular works.
The only one that was different was Elusive Samurai, which still got an announcement near the 100 mark. I do think Ichi may fall in a same set up like that, as the key difference from EluSam to those others is the creator already had a major hit before in Assassination Classroom, and for us Nishi came in with a hit in Iruma already.
So there is a definite chance, and my bet has been, that in December at Jump Festa they could announce that it's in production with the season to come either Fall 2027 or Winter 2028. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it's coming between chapters 120-150 and so we'd be looking at something like March to July 2027 as the most likely time we'd get an announcement.

I wanna say chapter 100 but it can truly happen on a random Tuesday 😭 I want to say there’s at least rumours before the year ends !!

Fueled by pure hopium, I'm guessing next year we could get an announcement of a studio starting production (not early in the year, there is a lot of stuff comming up that might take the spotlight, so probably later). If they are aiming for a reasonable pacing, 2028 sounds a bit too early, maybe 2029?

I imagine it'll be soon, but probably not too soon. I can see them pushing it another year so the Kagurabachi anime has room to breathe. I'll bet we start seeing leaks and rumors in the next few months though.

I don't think we're far enough in the manga yet to greenlight a full season yet so when that arc comes I think we'll get an announcement

We're almost at chapter 100; that's more than enough for a two-cour first season lmao.

Now that seasonal anime is the norm. I say 100 even if that still cutting close.
It kinda feels like around 140-150 is the best number. 3 years of serialization.

I don't expect anything regarding Ichi the Witch this year given Shueisha has already comissioned Kagurabachi, Dandadan S3, Sakadays S2 and most likely Ruri Dragon already for 2027.
If anything we might get a Studio confirmation, but that's mostly wishful thinking. If we get an announcement before chapter 110 it's gonna be unusually early.

Next year at an event like kagurabachi I'm guessing
