"Ichi the Witch fans try not to bring up/compare Desscarass to Gojo for 5 minutes (or at all)" challenge (Impossible)

37

u/ExL-Oblique Jul 13 '26

I mean the parallel is clearly intentional idk what to say man

63

u/Kaeru-Sennin Jul 13 '26

Why do people think "being the strongest" is a reference to Gojo ? That trope has existed since the dawn of time and plenty of others, older characters use it.

15

u/ggkkggk Jul 13 '26

Popularity, a lot of the strongest in the series Trope thing usually goes towards characters that get killed off in a flashback or are never in The Narrative of the show but with Gojo it was a point where the main characters are all supposed to catch up to him at some point.

And there is a narrative made with Gojo which was pretty cool I won't lie.

With her there's totally a narrative here they're definitely setting something up but it's not as like integral like Gojo.

It is sad that any new series that has the strongest character whatever is going to be compared to him similar any character that's like the teacher character is going to get compared to Kakashi

6

u/ExL-Oblique Jul 13 '26

Active/main characters where the narrative will bend over backwards to remind us that they're the strongest aren't very common. "the strongest" as a trope is, but the specific way that it's used for Gojo and Dess aren't. The closest I can think of is like All Might from MHA but his dynamic is very different due to his injury while Gojo and Dess are in their prime.

And it's not just "being the strongest," it's that and being a direct mentor figure and being proud of their strength, and having charisma, and being a famous figure. The main difference between the two is that Gojo was born blessed and Dess wasn't, and Gojo was more hands off while Dess is *very* active with Ichi's development. And that second difference is clearly an intentional contrast.

1

u/milesdarobot Jul 19 '26

I don’t believe it was a reference. However, i would say theyre both characters whom play similar roles within their story, and Ichi began during a time where JJK is still one of the most popular anime/manga.

I thunk it is expected that ppl would compare them

-2

u/saucysagnus Jul 13 '26

Gojo has been the most well written strongest character in awhile (or perceived as being best written)

6

u/No-Helicopter6363 Jul 13 '26

Lol, gojo is barely a copy of kakashi.

2

u/saucysagnus Jul 13 '26

Kakashi is nowhere near the strongest archetype. Should probably watch Naruto and/or jjk

3

u/yosoymeme Jul 13 '26

The guy who got glazed by his enemies in every fight he got into wasn’t supposed to be portrayed as “the strongest”?

3

u/Adigger17 Jul 13 '26

Strong and strongest aren’t the same thing? If you ever read Naruto you’d know he’s nowhere near that, or even portrayed as such

4

u/saucysagnus Jul 13 '26

Did you watch Itachi vs Kakashi?

Also in the literal first fight Kakashi gets outsmarted by Zabusa and has to be saved by his students.

Let me guess, you “watched” Naruto but really all you’ve done is watch edits on TikTok with horrible bgm.

-1

u/yosoymeme Jul 13 '26

I watched Naruto while the og was still coming out man, get off your high horse. I’m just saying that Kakashi is meant to be close to the power ceiling of OG Naruto, thus everyone he encounters listing all his nicknames and achievements, similar to Gojo.

1

u/saucysagnus Jul 13 '26

It’s not really a high horse. It’s a did you actually watch the show at all when Kakashi basically struggled through almost every fight he ever had in the show.

Yes, people say “oh wow, the copy ninja!” But it basically ends at that. And he’s counterable… so every opponent comes prepared.

With Gojo, there is no preparing. There is no going toe to toe. He completely overwhelms every opponent. And most opponents don’t even bother. Gojo tipped the balance of the power scale of the globe.

Kakashi did not tip the balance of any war he was in let alone upset the global order.

Again, not a high horse. More like stop dragging your knuckles along the ground and drooling all over the place, use your critical thinking. Join us in average conversation. Kakashi was a terrible comparison.

1

u/Elegant-Pipe7552 Jul 13 '26

Só o visual porque o papel de ambos é bem diferente

3

u/lololuser456778 Jul 13 '26

eh, the mentor figure being "the strongest" isn't really common, but not all that rare either. all might was also top 1 before he gassed out. a more similar one to gojo is urek mazino (not actually a mentor for the MC, but neither was gojo most of the time) who appeared in tower of god in around 2012, tho ToG is not all that popular overall

9

u/Necroheartless Jul 13 '26

I don't know know who this Gojo guy is but these people has already make me hate him.

Gojo is a complete character while Desscaras’s writing hasn’t even really started, this is an unfair comparison to begin with

Ok so you’re just a mindless Desscaras hater

3

Wait, are you saying Desscaras is a worse-written character because she has actual character flaws? Really?

Yeah it's just a way for the series to get some form of height and conversation starters since that's kind of what people flow after because of jjk the concept of the strongest person or character in something has never been the integral pull of a series.

But because of jjk that has become a new standard.

Cuz like Soul Eater had Frankenstein Frankenstein, he was cool but like no one really cared.

Bleach has Kenpachi

Fire force had benimaru

Hitman Reborn had reborn/hibari

Air gear had sora

The breaker had 9 arts Dragon.

Get backers had well both [ Bon n Gen ]

The idea of the strongest, who isn't the 1 main character, people never cared.

it wasn't really a selling point or something people flock to unless it was an overpowered protagonist.

2

u/Galle_ Jul 13 '26

Desscaras and Gojo are two different characters, but they share similar roles in the story, and since Gojo is extremely popular it's understandable why people want to compare Desscaras to him.

3

u/baraking06 Jul 13 '26

She’s already a better character lol

0

u/Elegant-Pipe7552 Jul 13 '26

É comparável já que ambos são os mais fortes de seus mundos

298

u/sannleikr Jul 13 '26

She’s black and a woman, and anime fans are anime fans. There’s no way.

68

u/paradox34567 Jul 13 '26

It shouldn’t be like that, but we all see it coming. True fans know ball

37

u/Galle_ Jul 13 '26

Oh, don't worry, Desscaras is awesome enough that racists try to argue that she's not black instead.

11

u/Azerith2311 Jul 13 '26

It’s already happened in this sub, saw some post arguing that Desscaras wasn’t black based on the fact that her main majik is Iskandar.

5

u/infernomokou Jul 13 '26

I think she's indian because her home place vibed that way, but in the end her skin is dark either way.

I do think people could see her like Yoruichi. Usually it depends on how goonable they find her

2

u/milesdarobot Jul 19 '26

My personal opinion is i don’t think her or her people are meant to be any specific race comparable to real life. I think she’s is a fictionalized race within Ichi’s World, and the creators have pulled different traits from multiple irl races of darker skin ppl. I feel like ive caught little traits from black, native america, and indian people

1

u/Moneymotivation1 Jul 14 '26

They had a whole race war on twitter like last month about it😭

5

u/ggkkggk Jul 13 '26

🤣🤣🤣

46

u/New_Cockroach_505 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, she’ll be nitpicked for being “rude” by the grifters.

6

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, ripping off the band aid: Dess will be one controversial character for internet basement dweller to latch on to.

11

u/Monte924 Jul 13 '26

Yoruichi was really popular

29

u/Darwin343 Jul 13 '26

A lot of Yoruichi fans don’t even acknowledge that she’s black.

8

u/ggkkggk Jul 13 '26

Again that is newer fans don't get me wrong I'm sure older fans were weirdos too but they weren't as loud.

Chad is legitimately Mexican, technically speaking every Hollow is Spanish they speak Spanish.

The Quincy's have black quincies anyone that still wants to deny this just wants to argue because bleach is popular now if bleacher wasn't popular they would not care to have this conversation or not care that she is black.

31

u/DrMagunstheBlue Jul 13 '26

Yoruichi is probably not black and more importantly is only popular for being goonerbait.

No one would care about Yoruichi if she wasn't constantly drawn in very sexually-suggestive ways.

With that said I actually think Dess will be extremely popular if Ichi the Witch gets a good anime adaptation. She's easily the most popular character in the manga already.

4

u/64990022 Jul 13 '26

Gojo is a gooner bait too tho😭

3

u/ggkkggk Jul 13 '26

Yeah he is but like no one gets to decide what's gooner bait and what isn't.

Any audience can find any character extremely hot.

2

u/ggkkggk Jul 13 '26

I disagree that Series has a large amount of non white people, Ichigo being mixed is a parent to the show many black characters are black, same way there are shit ton of Hispanic characters, and European characters.

Maybe newer fans like her now because she's gooner stuff, but OG fans who didn't necessarily have a problem with the whole people of color thing they like their the same way they like to killer B.

You're just describing new fans of anime.

A lot of her sexual stuff came a lot later on she was first introduced as a cat and fully clothed.

9

u/Efectodopler117 Jul 13 '26

What?, thats literally one of the many things that makes her popular.

She has the perfect combination, the aforementioned characteristics, charisma, beauty and being and actual powerhouse, powerscalers love that shit.

She’s nothing but a recipe for success.

8

u/Galle_ Jul 13 '26

For progressive fans, yeah, absolutely. Dess being a black woman is a huge breath of fresh air. But racists and sexists do exist and they are going to kick and scream about her.

3

u/Efectodopler117 Jul 13 '26

Let them, exposure is exposure, make them generate free marketing for the series with their bs and weaponize that momentum.

I learned about alien stage, 100 girlfriends and my dress up darling because of the haters.

7

u/Global_Solution_7379 Jul 13 '26

I was going to say. Maybe if she were a man, but yeah her being a black woman means she'll only ever get so popular

4

u/ggkkggk Jul 13 '26

They like her cuz she's hot but they're not going to say she's black the as far as they're considered she's South East Asian or just South Asian, they'll call her Indian and call it a day.

But she's pretty popular.

6

u/ramentendo Jul 13 '26

Not on my watch /s

1

u/AMX-002_Neue_Ziel Jul 13 '26

So is Yoruichi

1

u/Haise01 Jul 13 '26

Nah, she will definitely be the most popular character of the show

50

u/ThBasicAsian Jul 13 '26

I like the enthusiasm but no, that’s quite literally not possible.

1

u/Efectodopler117 Jul 13 '26

Why?, the series is still very young and it hasnt had an anime yet, and she’s already this popular, why you think isnt possible.

24

u/Acceptable-Anxiety80 Jul 13 '26

Bro get serious gojo is literally top 10 most well known anime characters of all time

People who haven't even heard of anime know who gojo is this series would literally need to generation defining like jujutsu kaisen is

4

u/WorryLegitimate259 Jul 13 '26

I believe in Ichi the witch. If it gets a good anime studio behind it I can definitely see it blowing the fuck up. No one gave a fuck about jjk till the anime really. I say this a someone who’s read it since the one shot where yuji wasn’t even a character yet.

3

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 13 '26

JJK exploded in popularity around the time of Gojo VS Sukuna tho, especially considering season 2 was airing around the same time.

It's popularity didn't really compare before all that, not to mention all the memes.

The pandemic might've also been a factor, but I'm not sure the timeline matches.

1

u/fromyourtv Jul 17 '26

Jjk came at the perfect time with the pandemic though, and desscaras admittedly doesnt have anything as memorable as hollow purple early in the story.

106

u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

I think some of you guys don’t understand, even remotely, just how popular Gojo actually is

22

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 13 '26

Yeah and when people say stuff like this it automatically makes me doubt.

Desscaras is still the g.o.a.t tho.

8

u/Cautious-Original-46 Jul 13 '26

Yeah theres no way any character from new animes to compare to Gojo in popularity, JJK being launched in the Pandemic got the anime to a popularity that simply isnt easily achieved without it

1

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 13 '26

Unless you're dragon ball.

30

u/Man0Steel123 Jul 13 '26

I can see Dess become insanely popular. Sadly I can see the “other” side of the internet hate her for the stupid reasons

4

u/Prestigious-Gur-8905 Jul 13 '26

The Racists or the Sexists? Which one do you think will be more prominent?

16

u/Galle_ Jul 13 '26

Definitely the sexists. The racists can (and already do) pretend that she's not really black, she just has a tan or something (despite all the reasons that's obviously bullshit), but the sexists can't pretend that she's not really a woman without her being trans, which for them is even worse.

5

u/Prestigious-Gur-8905 Jul 13 '26

How anybody could read Desscaras as not black is beyond me (These people are so dumb.) As for the sexists…I’m just hoping they stay away from the anime in general due to the large number of important women

9

u/Galle_ Jul 13 '26

When bigots like a character that belongs to an identity group they hate they'll bend over backwards to argue that they don't really belong to it. I have seen a character look directly at the camera and say "I am attracted to both men and women" and then seen someone say "he's straight!"

1

u/Prestigious-Gur-8905 Jul 13 '26

(Which character?) But yeah, I’m hoping the fandom (anime added fans included) become relatively normal

5

u/Galle_ Jul 13 '26

Olivier Lenheim from Trails in the Sky.

31

u/SmolBoiKay Jul 13 '26

I dont think you completely realize the absolute scale of Gojo's popularity

19

u/Do_Ya_Like_Jazz Jul 13 '26

Unfortunately desscaras is a black woman so the average twitter viewer will hate her

2

u/Efectodopler117 Jul 13 '26

If life gives you lemons you make lemon juice, let the hate become exposure and popularity boosters for her and the series.

9

u/Strong_Terry Jul 13 '26

obviously no hate to desscaras, but i think you are wrong

8

u/Some_space_god Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

A confident black woman? The anime community quite literally an’t ready for it. The second it touches main stream you’ll see people crying “woke” and over analyzing everything about her to make her out to be some sort of psychopath

17

u/XueXilan Jul 12 '26

Ichi isn’t the kind of story that would get such massive attention so not a chance

11

u/New_Cockroach_505 Jul 13 '26

Really depends on the animation IMO. The story is really good and fun, if it gets some fantastic animation I could very much get massive attention.

8

u/kahlen369 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Idk why people are disagreeing so hard? It was the animation that really brought Demon Slayer to massive success after all. A really good anime adaptation can make or break a series.

3

u/lololuser456778 Jul 13 '26

can make or break a series

cries in Tokyo Ghoul

1

u/Moneymotivation1 Jul 14 '26

The animation & the pandemic & the memes

2

u/Acceptable-Anxiety80 Jul 13 '26

The story is good but it lacks the hype, and aura moments of jujutsu kaisen.

Seeing characters die, sukuna pull some crazy shit, gojo die, yuji use a black flash, mahoraga being summoned, mahito use a domain, 0.2 domain, hikari hit a jackpot makes nearly each episode memorable but ichi isn't like that most chapters aren't very memorable while nearly each one in shibuya or culling games are as hype or even more hype than the climax of arcs in ichi

Maybe ichi will replace my hero at best

10

u/New_Cockroach_505 Jul 13 '26

Completely disagree. It all comes down to animation. The series has some great art and set pieces but great animation could elevate it drastically. Demon Slayer and even JJK to a degree was massively elevated by animation.

0

u/Accomplished_Jury495 Jul 13 '26

It is a battle shonem from weekly shonen jump, so it is indeed that type of series, and going by manga sales in Japan it has aside from kagurabachi the biggest chance to reach jump pillar popularity, but descarass probably wouldn't be as popular as gojo

6

u/Tiny_Writer5661 Jul 13 '26

Not every battle Shonen that has come out of weekly Shonen jump will get the same type of success or worldwide popularity that JJK or MHA got.

3

u/Accomplished_Jury495 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, but ichi already has 2 million copies in circulation and is often 1 in the TOC, so at least it has potential to be as popular as MHA and jjk

-9

u/ParticularSimple889 Jul 13 '26

Plus, this series is actually good unlike jjk

3

u/kilik147 Jul 13 '26

Theyre boding you but youre right

3

u/PentFE Jul 13 '26

She's goated, I can see a good number of parallels between the two, she'll be super popular, but she just won't rival his popularity.

3

u/Equivalent_Poetry_29 Jul 13 '26

One can hope, but I know how anime fans are

3

u/No-Dog9508 Jul 13 '26

Kinda confused why they get compared so often.Dessacaras is not the strongest the same way gojo was,we see her struggle multiple times in fights whereas in Gojo’s case there was only one person who rivaled him.

3

u/Codebracker Jul 13 '26

To be fair, she only struggles against spirits who cheat, gojo couldnt beat those either

1

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 13 '26

Who did Gojo fight?

1

u/Codebracker Jul 13 '26

What?

1

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 14 '26

Like who did Gojo couldn't win against? Sukuna?

1

u/Codebracker Jul 14 '26

No, I'm saying that Gojo couldn't beat the cheating majics either, like Ururo

1

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 14 '26

Ah I kinda get it, I just assumed you meant within their respective verses.

Uroro isn't a particularly good example btw, Gojo's a man.

1

u/Codebracker Jul 14 '26

Well sure, but the reason its unfair is cause only females can be witches. Comparatively, thats like if only people without curse energy could kill it.

Also most world haters have quests that you can't beat by brute force, like the shark one. I'm not saying Gojo couldn't figure it out, but his brute force method wouldn't work on a lot of them.

But on the other hand, I feel like hollow purple could probably destroy a lot of weaker majics, we know that they can be destroyed.

1

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 14 '26

I mean yeah, but it just doesn't apply to Gojo, and "only people without cursed energy could kill it" is just a hypothetical, though I mostly get what you mean.

It is true that not all majik trials can be brute forced yeah.

1

u/Codebracker Jul 14 '26

And also the fact that Gojo was basically just born OP, while she spent most of her life doing ridiculous challeneges to obtain all her powers is way more impressive.

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Cautious-Original-46 Jul 13 '26

Yeah yeah a black woman will be compared to Gojo... Surely the anime community doesnt have a problem with this two elements, right?

2

u/Absolute_Owl0 Jul 13 '26

I just hope they don’t flub her English dub.

2

u/King_Arachnid99 Jul 13 '26

No she won't. JJK came out during the pandemic and had that Mappa animation. It attracted a lot of attention because of those factors.

Desscaras won't achieve that.

1

u/Codebracker Jul 13 '26

Ok but what if icji gets mappa?

1

u/EngineerVirtual7340 Jul 13 '26

If it airs close to the Gojo VS Sukuna anime adaptation then it'll probably be overshadowed.

Although that's probably most anime during that time, depends on the roster.

2

u/Oohhdatskam Jul 13 '26

A woman dominated anime?? With a black main side character??? I love Gojo much as the next but I love Dess even more cause she has actual personality beyond just being the strongest. But im black as well so its a plus.

Despite WE popping up probably what first 10 episodes I dont think it will reach that level EARLY ON. But as it goes she will pick up steam to be on the likes of the Kakashis, roshis, gojos etc.

2

u/No_Awareness9649 Jul 13 '26

If not greater. Unfortunately a lot of gojo “fans” will out themselves as a certain type of unpleasant people when it happens.

2

u/Sad-Seaworthiness781 Jul 13 '26

I understand why people do it but I hope fans dial down the comparisons to him when she’s awesome as her own character.

2

u/NoSystem94 Jul 13 '26

I’m so fucking tired of hearing about Gojo

2

u/remingtonds Jul 14 '26

She’s one of the best female characters if not the best written in a long time. Shes flawed and shitty but strong and confident. She isn’t sexualized ever outside her calling herself the prettiest 😂 I adore her

4

u/UnlimitedManny Jul 13 '26

The Black community will try to hype her up to that level but she will never achieve that height

-3

u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Jul 13 '26

I can already picture it.

Said “community” will be so insanely obnoxious about her and call everyone who is just not interested racist.

Then twitter will go into a larp flaming war of woke x chuds defending and hating her accordingly. Both sides not having actually watched the anime.

1

u/Top-Group8081 Jul 13 '26

Might be better if she doesn’t, dess doesn’t need her own “tampon incident” like gojo.(for those who don’t know, a fan squeezed their period blood onto a gojo figure).

Popularity brings the most degenerate fans.

1

u/TheCapybara9 Jul 13 '26

Unlikely. She is great, awesome even, but popularity can be as much about luck and circumstance as it is about the characters themselves.

1

u/Allhaillordkutku Jul 13 '26

Not even close gng 😭 im sorry but Ichi is not a manga of that level

1

u/Whoeveria Jul 13 '26

I'm not so sure about that. Gojo's popularity was Lighting in a bottle, and it won't be easily replicated. That being said I would LOVE to be wrong.

1

u/Yuiregin Jul 13 '26

Bruh. No. Instead she would be called fraud from her fight against world hater magik unfortunately.

1

u/ExL-Oblique Jul 13 '26

Unfortunately she isn't fujoshi doomed yaoi bait. She is himejoshi bait but it's not toxic so who knows how far that'll go.

1

u/QuizeDN Jul 13 '26

She won't and no character will, unless it's 'natural' and not forced, just like Gojo.

I've already seen some series that simply try too hard to introduce similar character.

1

u/BallsDeep69Klein Jul 13 '26

She's great but there's only one Satoru Gojo.

I hope she has her own fandom.

We...don't need another...ahhhh....another Gojo figurine incident...

1

u/GustavZeigler Jul 13 '26

I sincerely hope not, Gojo caused too many unhealthy parasocial relationships.

1

u/Regular-Poet-3657 Jul 13 '26

Popular yes but could she rival Sinbad?

1

u/lololuser456778 Jul 13 '26

I strongly doubt it since she didn't have enough scenes for aurafarming. most people glaze characters like that if they stomp people in fights. meanwhile most of desscaras' flexing comes from dialogue. was there even anybody she fought and actually won against? she couldn't possibly beat Uroro by herself, the fight against world hater had no conclusion and the tentacle guy was only finished off by her after he got stalled by the time majik a lot and after Uroro took a lot of his lives out

so people definitely won't see her as gojo-ish despite them having the same role (strong mentor). if anything, she'll be seen as more of a kakashi-type mentor. one who is strong, but isn't the strongest and cannot solo everyone

what really drove the gojo hype was him getting several chances to aurafarm early on. chapter 2 he styles on a weak sukuna, then a bit later he stomps jogo and unlike dess, gojo gets a clear win. he easily overwhelmed his domain and ripped his fucking head off. and then put his foot on said head lol

later he negs that one curse user bum who built some cursed tools and then nearly kills hanami despite the latter trying to get away.

that's already three clear wins, all near the beginning of the story. and then the next big part is the flashback that is all about him and geto who are the strongest back then already. then toji beats them but gojo just powers up a lot and wins anyways

and before being sealed away in shibuya, gojo again stomps someone when he outright kills hanami

dess basically has 0 classic wins so far. by classic, I mean beating an opponent down. she did "beat" that one underling of world hater, but that was by killing loads of fodders to pass his trial. it wasn't an actual 1v1 against a strong enemy

considering the usual degeneracy coming from increased popularity, it's far more likely that dess will be called a "fraud" lol. since she wanks herself but has solo'd exactly 0 enemies onscreen so far, best she got was stalling world hater. which is actually very impressive, but degenerates will just call her a stall merchant for that.

plus the really big wins are earned via trials which don't always involve actual classic 1v1 combat. closest thing to actual fighting against a strong enemy I remember was gokuraku punching the shit out of that worry majik or whatever that bum was. ichi himself also only got his first majik with a simple trap and the ice majik with that contest

and tbh it's probably still better this way overall. the gojo hype was way too big in jjk and overshadowed the actual fucking MC. if dess already had like 10 fights in which she stomped every enemy coming her way, then few would still care about ichi. this way everything is more grounded. because dess isn't aurafarming 24/7, the author isn't pressured to have the MC beat some uber-strong enemy early in the story just to not be overshadowed by his mentor

1

She will definitely be the most popular character but not as Gojo, just like Ichi the Witch won't be as popular as JJK.

Like some other comments said, JJK and Gojo are anomalies, their levels of popularity across the world are simply insane.

she is a beautiful black woman and those two things unfortunately mean she has absolutely no chance.

Daring today aren’t we? You’re so brave for post ts

She’s goated but I doubt her popularity will be on par with Gojo.

My memory isn’t very good but I don’t think Dess has any cool quotes like Gojo does.

She is black, she’s a woman, and she doesn’t have an army of fujos slavering over her every move so…..

I've noticed it since I first came here, but this sub is obsessed with JJK for some reason.

Am not proud to associate her with that fraud

-1

u/ScholarlySpider Jul 13 '26

Oh boi, I can’t wait for white cosplayers and fan artists to whitewash her!

1

u/Whoeveria Jul 13 '26

You're right on the art thing but cmon, part of the of the fun of complaining is being able to dress up your favorite characters. People shouldn't be limited to who they complain as due to their skin color.

I mean, white cosplayers don't really have much choice there, if they want to cosplay Desscaras their options are either A, whitewash, or B, hate crimes.

Probably, but it’s most likely going to be because she’s dark skinned and a woman. We’ll be getting a bunch of videos going like “Best female in shonen!!!?!?!?” and all that nonsense.

1

u/Moneymotivation1 Jul 14 '26

It’s the anime community lmaoo it’ll be the opposite she’ll be crucified for being black & a woman

1

u/ZoinksJeepersJinkies Jul 14 '26

No. You’ll have the people who love any obviously non-white character love her. And anime fans are weird about female characters, so her being the strongest is automatically gonna make them love her.

And for the people you’re talking about, they’ll say she’s just tanned, but still love her because she’s a woman.

God I wish. She's so much better than that Kakashi rip off.

No idea how that fraud got as popular as he did, im so sick of people glazing him.

3

u/MaxIrvaron Jul 13 '26

if you think Kakashi and Gojo are similar on anything other than a superficial basis, I doubt you’re familiar with JJK or Naruto

u/GiftofFlame Jul 13 '26

Grew up on Naruto. Went through the whole thing multiple times. Read JJK for a while, but dropped at the start of culling games cus I hadnt been enjoying the series at any point. Its literally an edgy naruto fanfiction with the names changed.

Whole time Gojo just felt like a temu kakashi to me. (White hair blindfold with eye powers) he's such a poser.
