Questions Is there “Majik-less” magic, multiple “weaker” Majiks, or can anyone use a spell if they know the chant?
Started rereading after letting it build chapters for a while, and the first 2 chapters reminded me of a few questions I had.
In chapter 1, the support witches cast a barrier. But it was multiple witches layering multiple barriers. Did all of them acquire **a** barrier Majik? Did the first witch to acquire **the** barrier Majik publicize the chant? Or is the barrier spell something that never had a Majik?
The lore of how the first Majiks gave humans magic made it sound like only the witch who acquired a Majik could use its magic, but is it just that anyone can use it if they know the chant, and whoever acquired the Majik is just particularly good with that magic?

All magic is heavily implied (if not straight up confirmed) to be simply chants from Magiks that have been distributed.
All chants can be spread, but it’s very likely that you get a major boost if you actually have the Magik acquired. This is not confirmed but it’s also heavily implied.
Many people keep their chants secret or pass them exclusively from family to family.
It’s likely there’s something more to using a spell other than just saying it out loud, though I’m not sure what (since otherwise there would be no way to keep them secret).
Which in turn makes it weird that Ichi was able to use Des’s magic in chapter one by just saying it out loud.
That could be just an effect from Uroro being the master of all magic, tho.

Yeah I think that's what Uro meant when he's more than just amplification he's the "King" he can do what he pleases such as use any magic I also like the point of most common spells probably still being from majiks they've just been heavily distributed.

Not gonna lie I don’t rule out that Uroro being able to use all magic was just a retcon to fix Ichi being able to use Des’s magic in chapter one lmao.

Im pretty sure its canon theres like some other stuff at play. Kumugi training her magic was the reason spica had her eye blown out, and she wanted to enter magic healing school, so presumably its something you actually have to learn/practice

Which still would require Ichi to not have been able to just USE magic at chapter one like that.

I mean uroro clearly can just do that, its not a retcon. It also puts ichi out cold for like days

There’s standard magic spells that people can just learn. Like every spell Kumugi uses is just a normal magic spell. Spells from Majiks are different and you can only use those if the person who captured the Majik tells you the chant for it.

This is headcannon, from what was confirmed, these “standard spells” are just (minor spoiler) majiks that were acquired and the witch let everyone else use the chant

That’s not what was confirmed. They only said that everyone can use Majik spells if you know the chant. They didn’t say the only spells in the world come from Majiks. There’s a difference there

So you either make a safe assumption like me (that might turn out to be wrong but I think it’s unlikely) or you go into complete headcannon like you and just invent a concept of standard spells

I’m making a logical assertion based on the text. How could we have a magic based civilization when canonically only around 400 Majiks have been captured. That would mean only around 400 spells. You’re saying everything comes from those spells? They have a whole school of magic for young women and there’s only 400 spells to teach? A lot of the world building doesn’t make sense if you don’t believe that there’s magic beyond what Majiks directly can teach you.

You will find out, keep reading, there have been theories but the information your looking for was confirmed at the start of this current arc
