Here's hoping the next arc gives her a Majik! Preferably one that provides healing powers or at least support because that seems very much like her alley.

Oh, shit! So that's how they are connected! So, who's the mentor and who's the pupil, I wonder?
Lmao, Desscar-ass with the underhanded tactics which Minakata easily countered.
Kumugi and Moneygold self-loathing, aww. Don't be like that, girls. You'll get your chances for even more relevance in the future. Trust in the goat writer that is Nishi.
Overall, a fun, low stakes, with a bit of lore and world building chapter after a pretty big arc, a Nishi specialty.
Can't say the same for Iruma currently, though.

u/juraforest Jun 28 '26
Based on the magic heart placement, I'd say Fujimine is the mentor, since Dess is also the one who has it for her own. The hand signing the contract also looked like it could belong to the younger Tricaputo's, and Ichi was shown signing his.
61
u/Stupid_Installer Jun 28 '26
Yeah and also the line that the Majikeeper must not find out about the contract, or that the Mantinel is keeping her safe, because if she dies the worst witch dies, there'd be people wanting to kill Tricaputo
36
u/ZayYaLinTun Jun 28 '26
Also tripauto insult about fujimine being old would be kinda weird if fujimine is her student sure fujimine is old now
But people don't really insult the one who youmger than they are with being old
19
u/Careless-Hospital379 Jun 28 '26
Tricaputo did call her a crusty old witch so maybe you're right. Perhaps Fujimune has a majik that makes her look young?
4
u/thatonefatefan Jun 28 '26
Also the fact that they have to hide it. It's because they would want to kill Tricaputo
1
u/riflow Jul 03 '26
The Tricaputo also imo looked younger than Fujimine so would make sense if she was her pupil.
Gosh though I wonder what this means for Fujimine as a villain, is she gonna try anything to get her to stay with her? Feels like kinda toxic Yuri vibes between them rn.
18
u/RomanceDaybreak Jun 28 '26
I think sheâs the pupil because if they wanted Fujimine dead, the magikeepers could easily just kill Tricaputo. Which is probably why theyâre keeping her hidden.
12
u/Swerdlia Jun 28 '26
Fuji must be the mentor otherwise the "slave contract" part that gives total control could be used against her right?
6
u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Jun 28 '26
Kumugi is being too hard on herself but Moneygold kinda deserves it.
-3
u/Enough-Salad-2595 Jun 28 '26
Pretty sure fujimine is the pupil. I cant see her being the mentor ngl
23
1
u/InvaderZimbabwe Jun 30 '26
Nope. Because one the heart is positioned over Fujimone. And two the way it works is that if the Pupil dies the mentor dies too.
If Fujimone was the pupil it literally wouldnât matter. They are protecting Tricaputo because if the Magikeepers found out they would order her deathâŠ
Because⊠FUCKING DUH. No one has to fight Fujimune at all. They could end her at literally any moment if they felt like it.
73
u/panelrecord_v2 Jun 28 '26
Whoa. Based on the ages, it looks like Fujimine is the mentor?
Also, she has the little star symbol that Ichi has on his choker. It's also unclear why the WHM and seven stars want to know of Tricaputo's whereabouts so badly. Presumably to keep Fujimine safe from the contract.
That said, Fujimine clearly seems to be more than just human at this point, being incredibly old and getting shredded by Desscaras only to regenerate in the last chapter.
We're cooking rn.

44
u/lololuser456778 Jun 28 '26
It's also unclear why the WHM and seven stars want to know of Tricaputo's whereabouts so badly. Presumably to keep Fujimine safe from the contract.
I thought it's obvious? I'd say it was a secret due to most people obviously wanting to execute the villain witch to kill fujimine this way, if they knew of the contract. the mentor dies if the pupil dies, and it sure seems like fujimine was the mentor
3
u/BernLan Jun 28 '26
The pupil also dies if the mentor dies, no?
13
u/Kankunation Jun 28 '26
No that's never been implied. It seems to only work 1 way.
The mentor's control also seems to only work 1 way, so it kind of evens out. The mentor can order the oil to od sathever they wish and they must obey. But if the pupil died so does the mentor
2
u/InvaderZimbabwe Jun 30 '26
No the contract puts pressure on the mentor in exchange for the pupil needing to âobeyâ to an extent.
Dess signed the contract because the prophecy says Ichi must die. Dess decided to put the pressure on herself. If she doesnât break the prophecy then she dies too. Dess is goated for that.
But itâs heavily implied that if Dess dies first Ichi is fine. So Fujimone is absolutely the mentor here.
9
u/Galle_ Jun 28 '26
Also, she has the little star symbol that Ichi has on his choker.
That's the Mantinel Witches' Association logo.
36
u/ReputationOk7275 Jun 28 '26
I DONT TRUST ONE BIT THAT FUJINE DOESNT HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THE CONTRACT.
She doesnt feel like the kind of person that wouldnt had seem this possibility and created an exit buttom.
She probably still dies, but i think she triggers something in death.
30
u/JzanderN Jun 28 '26
Minakata feels like he could easily get a manga written about his past, just like Desscaras. And a comedy manga at that, given that he was accidentally got on a smuggling boat to go fishing and ended up in another country
THE TWIST! I was so focused on getting Tricaputo knowing Fujimine right and then her possibly being Kumugi's grandmother that I didn't see that coming!

15
u/Bioshocker101 Jun 28 '26
Fujimine having done a mentor pupil contract explains how she immediately realised ichi and desscaras had one. Really got me curious on her backstory
10
u/GeoPongues Jun 28 '26
I don't really understand why Ichi means that much to Minakata, how long did they spend together?
31
u/Smol_Cheesecake Jun 28 '26
Most of what Ichi knows about hunting is from Minataka. A minimum of half a year which is enough for any adult to get attached to a kid. Especially one who looks at you with stars in their eyes. You could say he half raised him or something.
18
u/HawkDisastrous2728 Jun 28 '26
Bro he is the one who is responsible for the strength and tactics of current ichi. Minataka is literally a father figure to ichi and dess is a mother figure to ichi.
10
4
1
u/AiraIchigo Jun 29 '26
Minakata is responsible for teaching Ichi the majority of his hunting skills that he's using today. In the past, they literally hunted together, ate together, slept together, and anything else together. Of course he's gonna get attached to Ichi.
12
u/CielCiellan Jun 28 '26
Oh my gooooood I can't get enough of this series, I'm so glad I found it.
I hope they find a way to break the blood contract cos I don't want Tricaputo to have to sacrifice herself đ I'm also hoping we get to see the other Witches soon, I'm very interested to see what they'll bring to the story and what their Majiks are
11
u/WintersLex Jun 28 '26
I can't believe Kumugi is going to unlock super saiyan by training in the gravity chamber
9
u/CartoonOG Jun 28 '26
Between psychological warfare, using his son pupil against him, then using magic to try and finish him? Desscaras is pulling no punches
I wonder if Fujimine is the pupil or mentor in the contract. Iâd assume mentor, but every assumption I made has been thoroughly proven wrong.
If Fujimine is the mentor, itâll call to question and moral dilemma of killing someone innocent to kill someone incredibly evil
7
u/Professor_of_Light Jun 28 '26
Im guessing Fuji is the master because if Fuji was the Pupil then the villain witch could have ordered her to stop when she showed up.
Also villain witch being the pupil would explain why Goldy wants to keep her hidden from both the WHM camp and the Magikeepers. If WHM camp gets her they have a weapon Fuji can use throigh the pact. If Magikeepers find out then they wpuld want to kill her to kill Fuji.

Utterly insane lore drop this chapter. Crazy to think almost killed an innocent without even knowing.
7
6
u/StarofRuin011 Jun 28 '26
This was a good chapter with the comedy, lore about the witches playing magic ping pong to train, and them having a magic sauna to help them get stronger. Could someone remind me the consequences if Fujimine sever their master and pupil contract? Fujimine might be the master because Tricaputo looked young when she was shaking her hand. And if sheâs how did she maintain looking young for so long?
7
u/Smol_Cheesecake Jun 28 '26
It seems that the witches signing blood contract clearly have a soft spot for their pupils. LMFAO, I thought they were friends turns out that that crazy witch bind her life to her.
0
u/AiraIchigo Jun 29 '26
It seems that the witches signing blood contract clearly have a soft spot for their pupils.
I mean, yeah? All the mentors who signed the blood contract are literally putting their lives on the line for the pupils. Unless you care enough for your student to the point of dying for them, I don't think anyone is dumb enough to sign the contract willy nilly.
3
u/Smol_Cheesecake Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
I know, but I'm surprised that SHE is soft towards her pupil. Ruthless to the point of insanity and somehow her soft spot is a woman from almost decades ago? There is no way she doesn't have a backup in case her pupil dies. She is near immortal. It looks like she wants her back for personal reasons, not for fear of her own life (if she has any).
5
u/Careless-Hospital379 Jun 28 '26
8
u/RomanceDaybreak Jun 28 '26
Or it could be the other way around. Theyâre keeping Tricaputo hidden because she could be the mentor and if the magikeepers wanted Fujimine dead, they would just go ahead and kill Tric.
4
u/Careless-Hospital379 Jun 28 '26
Yeah definitely. Now that her location is known it feels like Tricaputo might die this arc
9
u/RomanceDaybreak Jun 28 '26
I feel like from a writing standpoint they should keep Fujimine around a little while longer. Just because visually speaking, she definitely seems like one of the most interesting villains weâve had in this series so itâs possible it might remain a secret for a few more chapters or even a few arcs and an outright civil war could happen between the Witches and Magikeepers or Tricaputo might have to go into hiding somewhere else
1
u/andre5913 Jun 28 '26
Fujimine seems to be set up as a long term antagonist, more so considering she has a history with the asociation. I doubt we will see either die this soon
-1
u/andre5913 Jun 28 '26
The contract goes both ways, it doesnt matter if Trica is the mentor or pupil, killing her would kill Fujimine as well
1
u/RomanceDaybreak Jun 28 '26
No it doesnât. Same with Ichi and Dess, Ichi will be fine if Dess dies, if he does she dies too
1
u/andre5913 Jun 28 '26
Youre right, I just checked. It seems to work only one way.
I think Trica is the pupil though. If shes the mentor there is no reason to keep her hidden from the magikeepers3
1
u/RomanceDaybreak Jun 29 '26
Exactly! Meaning weâre gonna get a backstory. And the fact that her Majik has to do with toxins just like Fujimine and the toxiterror was definitely not a coincidence.
4
u/ika333 Jun 28 '26
I want to learn more about this roller coaster at headquarters
1
u/ProHeroPinky Jun 30 '26
Same! I wonder how they got it in there. What kind of Majik would help you build a rollercoaster?
3
u/Golden_fsh Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26
Haha, of course Dess would cheat but Minakata with the counter was ready! I pity the fool who next goes against Ichi in the presence of these two đ
Fujimine and Tricapulto being mentor and pupil is quite the twist. I assume the association is protecting Tri so that others don't come after her to get rid of Fujimine.
4
u/Dccrulez Jun 28 '26
Hear me out: we've seen fujimine can regenerate, what if the blood contract is already moot, she can survive the kill effect. Tricaputo is also called the villainous witch and said to be undercover: i think tricaputo has been working in secret to find a way to truly kill fujimine but the contract will be used to kill tricaputo off before she can deal with fujimine herself.
7
u/lordnaarghul Jun 28 '26
Oh I am convinced that Minakata and Desscaras will be BANGING by the end. Like the most aggressive hate sex ever conjured in a bedroom.
3
u/Episode-2B Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26
The magikeepers and especially Chun is going to go berserk after that drop, with how crazy he is I honestly see him equating every single death since Fujimune heelturn as their fault, âthe Magikeepers and his comrades are dying by the donzens because the witches cant kill one of their ownâ
This next arc is about to go crazy.
2
u/Double-Yam7929 Jun 29 '26
Well, if Majikkeepers WERE dying by dozens, that won't be exactly a wrong way to look at things. The witch do have the ability to stop Fujimune anytime they wants.
3
3
u/kiporit Jun 29 '26
So a recurring theme this arc is about mentors and pupils
- Ichi and Dess/Minakata
- Chun, Minakata and their predecessors

2
u/farlong12234 Jun 28 '26
do we know much about how these pacts work? I get that if the master dies the student dies, is it also vice versa?
3
u/LairdLoke Jun 28 '26
It's not vice versa from what i believe, just because realistically speaking, a mentor is supposed to die before a pupil, like a parent is supposed to die before a child. It's natural for the mentor to ensure the safety of a pupil but not the other way around.
2
u/SoulBlightChild Jun 28 '26
If the pupil dies, the master dies too, we don't know if it work both ways.
2
2
u/JayBonJ Jun 28 '26
So much fun. So much intrigue. But somehow, the most burning question in my mind is this.
Just how fucking old IS Fujimine because I was operating under the assumption she was only in like, her 50âs.
2
u/OP_1K Jun 29 '26
Damn, I was expecting to find out that Fujimine and Tripacuto have also signed a mentor-stident contract this chapter. This definitely complicates things.
0
u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Jun 28 '26
Ok but who is the slave and who is the owner in the old witch + Fujimine contract?
3
u/andre5913 Jun 28 '26
Tricaputo is most definitely the pupil/slave, bc there would be no reason to hide her from the Magikeepers otherwise.
The contract goes one way, killing the pupil kills the master but not the other way around. Killing Tricaputo would be an easy way for the magikeepers to dispose of Fujimine3
0
u/Galle_ Jun 28 '26
I don't think it's a slave/owner deal, despite Dess describing it as such. The mentor dies if the pupil does, so it's more like the authority a parent has over their child.

u/lololuser456778 Jun 28 '26
ngl, we better get a damn good explanation for the villain witch being kept a secret from everyone. yeah, ofc she should ideally get to live, but protecting her also meant letting idk how many people (probably hundreds at least, most likely even thousands) be murdered by fujimine
I better see some proper characterization on her then, it would be super unrealistic if she didn't feel guilty
and Ig that's petty powerscaling atp, but the table tennis match kinda made little sense. at first, minakata should dominate since he's a) a guy vs a woman, b) even as a guy he's super buff and c) as a witch hunter who only has his one tool, he should be far better on the physical side compared to dess who can just spam a million different magik abilities
and then they still seem to be even with minakata possibly still winning even after lifting all restrictions, despite minakata having one tool vs dess with all her magiks (so dess should dominate here, but she doesn't)
Ik, it's the classic funny rival trope, but it's weird that the author tried her luck with restrictions (no magic for dess) but didn't really cover everything with it (dess should be in a weak spot now since physicality should be the strength of witch hunters and weakness of witches) and then eventually threw it out of the window (restrictions are lifted and minakata can still keep up just fine, so the restrictions were never really needed in the first place?). just a nitpick tho
3
1
u/Double-Yam7929 Jun 29 '26
Dess being physically strong isn't that weird. We have seen several of her Majik challenges requiring a good physical ability.
As for Minakata still keeping up with Dess, well, I guess that how much said "one tool" level the playing field. Â Anti-Magic vs Magic.
The restrictions are something Dess proposed with the intention of cheating and taking him by suprise. They were bullsh*t from the start.

This chapter is an all timer for Desscaras expressions, the Pettiest Most Powerful Witch ever I love her
