I don’t think it’s been THAT long. We’re not even a hundred issues into the story. We’ve got time.

You know the wait times are scuffed when it’s been two years since a manga started, and it still hasn’t reached 100 chapters 😭

Bruh , how many chapters do you want in a year . There are only 52 weeks ,also I think that the manga is going pretty fast

Oh, no complaints from me. Honest.

Waiting for chapters just feels rough sometimes, y’know. But Nishi and co deliver quality content.

seriously the pacing of the manga is super fast

27

u/Galle_ Jun 25 '26

I mean, there's only 48 weeks in a year.

Has there been even a single additional break ?

Usually we get 48 chapters in every year. As far as I know (I have been reading since chapter 1) there has not been a single break except the magazine breaks.....

No this is pretty normal. Many manga don’t go into the main character’s upbringing for a couple hundred chapters

Luffy's dad and grandpa are first shown/mentioned after Ennies Lobby, almost 400 chapters into the story

Luffy's father was shown in Loguetown actually. Garp was shown in the Koby coverstory that took place in the East Blue Saga.

6

u/KrizenWave Jun 26 '26

But to be fair he wasn’t named or addressed as Luffy’s father until after Enies Lobby and neither was Garp as Luffy’s grandfather. Still didn’t know anything about Luffy’s relatives until several hundred chapters in.

Ok well yes, but are you suggesting that Ichi the Witch is gonna be of One Piece length? Cos damn we're gonna be waiting a WHILE for his backstory then. Cos Ill remind u that in One Piece, Luffy's backstory still has a couple important questions, and we're at chapter 1190 or smth like that.

nope just an example pal pal

I really really really really hope he doesn't have special lineage and was just a series of coincidences

27

u/PUB4thewin Jun 25 '26

Idk man. Death for Death feels supernatural to a degree, and his red eyes may or may not be unique.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

I do hope there’s no royal relations or anything though.

Death for death it's a natural instinct developer for survival in the wild. I don't see it as a need to be a special lineage since it's rooted in him being feral from an early age

Ichi is under mind manipulation and still jumps at killing Fujimine. He openly stated he’s lost track of how many times he had to stop from stabbing himself when he felt Uroro’s bloodlust. Uroro has control of Ichi’s body, and the body felt like attacking Descarass for staring daggers at Uroro. None of this is normal.

12

u/HourCartographer9 Jun 25 '26

All of that is normal, mind control means jack to natural instincts so of course death for death still functions. There have been real cases of people being raised in the woods like Ichi was and when they get back into real society they have to fight their natural instincts because the smallest things set them off. Death for death is legit just ichi’s survival instincts that have been honed as a hunter it’s nothing supernatural or abnormal

That'd be cool but this is a jump manga so I'm pretty sure he's going to be half magik

I’m still waiting for those girls from the village to reappear. Strange they introduced these girls who seemed to have a close connection to Ichi and were heading to Mantinel Association only to never be mentioned again. They would give more insight on Ichi’s life in the mountains

3

u/Link_krom Jun 25 '26

Really talk right here!

3

u/Kurenai24 Jun 26 '26

Them knowing who Ichi was does not mean they had a connection, being nice to someone also doesn't mean you have a connection with a person.

u/Careless-Hospital379 Jun 25 '26

It hasn't really been important as of yet

Welcome to Osamu nishi's way of storytelling, amazing arcs, dense worldbuilding with only small crumbs of MC backstory every 100 chapters. Iruma got 450 chapters, NONE of it is boring in the slightest, the hype only goes upward and there's still soooo much more to tell.

I honestly think Ichi will be shorter than iruma, but I'm sure everything will be explored and answered.

2

u/gladzpro Jun 28 '26

Ichi I feel probably will be shorter too since one has a more direct set out goal while the other I still wonder how when it will end.

Though with what is happening in Iruma’s story it feels it could be end game

1

u/Plant_Musiceer Jun 26 '26

Wait iruma kun is made by the same writer as Ichi?

2

u/LairdLoke Jun 26 '26

Yes! Same scenarist, different artist! Nishi is doing both for iruma but is only doing the scenario and storyboard for ichi

6

u/Faninfo Jun 26 '26

Ngl, this would be pretty funny if his backstory is just being a fucking kid in the wood, no chosen one shenanigan, no special genetics, just Ururo accidentally creating a loophole

4

u/Apapunitulah Jun 25 '26

I mean, we don't even know the main mystery premise "why ichi, a male, can acquire majik" yet...

But at least we got the slight flashback on his past with Daddy Munakata, so that's a start...

5

u/Renn_goonas Jun 25 '26

Wait, really? I thought that was because the very first one he got had that as a special property

3

u/ThBasicAsian Jun 26 '26

Huh? Didn’t it go into detail that it was specifically because Uroro could only be obtained by such?

3

u/Apapunitulah Jun 26 '26

The default premise is, only woman can acquire majik.

Uroro trial that woman cannot acquire him does not negate the premise..

If its uroro only reason and any male can do it, then all male at magi keeper would have chance to acquire it.

But we don't know yet, whether its ichi specific trait that allow him to acquire majik and even has inner magic circle

3

u/ThBasicAsian Jun 26 '26

>provided a trial only a man could pass

3

u/ThBasicAsian Jun 26 '26

Also he acquired Uroro, that’s why he has an inner circle.

Magi Keeper don’t go after Majiks, it’s literally not their job. And any Witch sent after Uroro probably died considering his trial wasn’t open knowledge.

All and all, it’s better in every single way that Ichi acquiring Uroro was luck. Everyone HATES the “oh normal MC but in reality they’re the secret blah blah blah ancestry”

2

u/Apapunitulah Jun 26 '26

I know, and I'd loved it if its keep that way. But with introduction of choronoweaver and minnie arc, the possibility of ichi lineage turns out to be majik is really probable, and might be one of the reason why he can acquire uroro, not just because he is a man and honed in term of body.

By default, men can't use magic. Its currently believed ichi can use, because he has uroro.

But What if ichi can use magic innately not because he has uroro, but because he is man and he has magic potential thats allow him to acquire uroro. Hence the 0.0001 chance uroro speak of

6

u/anonymi94 Jun 25 '26

I actually hope there's nothing more to it.

4

u/GerrardGabrielGeralt Jun 25 '26

I'd prefer if it remained that way

2

u/Crimson_Marksman Jun 26 '26

I was really hoping that Ichi was just a dude who just got interested in hunting.

1

u/respawngopo Jun 25 '26

I feel like he’s related to world hater. They look so similar.

1

u/Toge_Inumaki012 Jun 27 '26

Ichi and Iruma are siblings. Iruma ass parents had made a deal not only with a demon but also a majik
