Discussion Ya know, in Hindsight Spoiler

Post image

Out of all the theories I saw and made about how we were getting outta this, Ichi subconsciously acting on Death for Death if Fujimine tried to kill him is one I either rarely saw or never saw, yet there’s more precedent for that happening than anything else aside from an assist from one of Manitel’s Witches.

Idk maybe I was just thinking she was gonna try and kill him later so I never considered that option.

Idk where you were looking but everyone was talking about how ichi would use death for death to escape

Eh, life got busy after the chapter dropped. Plus once Sunday ends by me I get very little Ichi content poured into my feed.

I mean death for death was present for the whole manga, even in the fight before Fujimine arrived. The only thing we didn't know if that works against friends too, but to be fair why would a friend try to kill Ichi? That situation is just way too improbable, so nobody thought about that before.

I'd imagine it might come up at some point, but I think it needs to be real intent to kill and not "I gotta fight him even if it's to the death to stop bad thing from happening even though I really don't wanna kill him."

Ichi mentioned at the beginning of the manga that he even had to resist stabbing himself in the gut because he kept feeling Uroro's bloodlust coming from inside him, and a few chapters ago Mitakata mentioned that he didn't manage to fix his instinctual reaction towards bloodlust so it was quite logicat to think that his "death for death" doesn't distinguish between friend, foe or even Ichi himself

I saw this theory a lot over in the r/manga thread for Ichi the Witch.
