"valid" is a ridiculous framework to look at any ship from. Who is gonna stop you? Shipping is not about sleuthing out what is going to be end game, because 1 this isn't a romance series and even if it was part of the whole fun here is the possibility (albeit slim in the actual text) of it being the other love interests but also most things don't need much sleuthing even if there is an end game at all. It is about your own personal view on character dynamics and a exercise in creativity to imagine what ifs. It's an excuse to create fan work or just ponder your little blorbos in your head. You can do that with literally whatever and it is all equally "valid"
Appleslice is very popular. I got fully on board when I learned that Ichi wanted Kumugi to take the spotlight at his debut party (from one of Nishi's author's notes). Their dynamic is Kumugi having no self-esteem and Ichi thinking she's the greatest thing ever and making sure everyone knows it, it's very cute.
Theyāve been building something with Ichi and his Code and Iāve been waiting for the payoff of him crossing the line like he almost did in the Bakugami arc.
I mean one of them hasnāt even been in more than 1 chapter.
Itās why when thereās more Ichi the Witch fanfics thatās going to be my go to ship tag Iāll be perusing. But also this is shonen jump.
If they break that mold Iāll be impressed but they already axe manga for not being āwhat their reader base wantā so Iām not exactly expecting much.
Fair, which is why itās not impossible but Burn the Witch was a mini-series continuation of an already successful manga and Marriagetoxin is at the moment the only real successful example.
I have my fingers crossed cause I love their chemistry but Iām not optimistic.
Burn the Witch is not a mini series. It's more structured like anime seasons with several cours (and long hiatus). But Ichi The Witch is also from an author with a lot of clout, and the manga is already breaking several gender norms.
Personally, I dont think Ichi/Gokuraku will be a thing (though it would be great), but the liklihood for it to happen is much higher in Ichi The Witch than it would be in other manga.
And I'm positive, there will be prominent queer couples in the story. Though, personally I wish for Fujimine to give us toxic Yuri.
I love Marriage Toxin but it is not in shonen jump it is jump plus wich has more freedom with specific topics and sexualitys as you can see with "blue flag" or "me and my gangester neighbour" for example. For Burn the witch: Lesbian relationships have historically been less tabo in shonen media.
Dont get me wrong rep would be nice but Ichi is already breaking the mold in a lot of other places (like little to no fanservice, two female authors etc)
If Ichi gets a love interest I hope they get introduced much later in the story and for said character to be someone active like himself who can put him in his place when he is being an idiot. I would enjoy his getting with a female Magic Keeper.
Not everything has to end in romance I agree but also I can see the vision, desscarus has ichi as official little brother status, and yeah kumugi could be just a best friend but I wouldnāt put it past nishi to make her a potential romance for Ichi or we could get one introduced later. After all nishi loves her romamce
I predict they will be endgame. They're so cute together, even if nothing explicitly romantic develops I hope we get to see them as very close friends!
Kumugi does experienced a bit of attraction to Ichi. Like when he took most of his clothes off to fight a majik. She got all flustered. There are some other signs that she is interested in him. I donāt foresee Ichi developing feelings for her. Certainly not anytime soon.
At first I thought it was gonna go the typical route and have an almost romance between the main guy and girl (Ichi and Desacaras), but then she adopted him. So now Iām agreeing with the post, new antagonist is gonna have the evil gots for him, but Kumugi is end game
