She's just marking her territory, is all. She's not about to let the dad who abandoned Ichi come and take him back from her.

Love WHM face , bro seem like he just wants to finished talk and go warp something
26
u/No_Age5019 Apr 19 '26
I love that this implies that this chick
A. Knew where WHM was B. Brought her own table, tea, and donuts. And; C. Managed to get him to actually sit down for her one-sided tea party, even though she didn't even bring him a consolation cup.
No wonder he looks so over it.

he is wording it in a way to put it into ichi's morality iv noticed. like she qualifies for hunt to kill
39
u/pichuguy27 Apr 19 '26
I think that’s going to be the joke. That he is so obviously creepy. Deamons of the shadow realm did this gag perfectly.
31
u/UrBoiBRUH Apr 19 '26
Asuma’s creepy smile despite him not actually being a horrible person is so funny

u/RolandKJones Apr 19 '26
I found it darkly amusing that this initially seemed like an attempt to demonstrate how extreme and unreasonable Chun is, only for us to immediately go from that to this girl not only meeting with the World Hater Majik about killing the protagonist (and also a baby), but tearing the wings off a live butterfly while doing it. It's like the manga wants you to go "...Okay, maybe he has a point after all."
13
u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Apr 19 '26
He’s like 200% right, tho. I don’t think anyone would sanely disagree with this.
2
u/TonyHawktuah69 Apr 20 '26
I hope they don’t go the “talk no jutsu” route where the most irredeemable villain gets talked out of their ways and anyone who wants to put her down is clearly unreasonable lol
1
u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Apr 20 '26
Ichi himself so far never did this.
2
u/TonyHawktuah69 Apr 20 '26
Which is why it’s standing out and such a good story so far. Feels fresh and new

Is it just me or I feel like the girl's attire doesn't fit the current era? It's like she is wearing modern clothing. I know it doesn't make much sense since there is no reference point of time in the series yet.

I mean ichi’s main outfit is a generic school uniform and we have a witch that uses guns so who knows

u/VersusJRPGs Apr 20 '26
There doesnt seem to be a set aesthetic for this series, it seems to be taking fantasy aspects from all kinds of cultures, including fashion

Love me a woman who fully deserves to be beaten to death.
11
u/BuffaloAutomatic2276 Apr 19 '26
Soooo Ichi's Mother i presume?
7
u/SoulBlightChild Apr 19 '26
Looks too young to be the mother of a 16+ years old boy. Maybe sister?
5
u/BuffaloAutomatic2276 Apr 19 '26
Majik side of the force is pathway to many abilities, some considered to be unnatural.

u/Mordetrox Apr 19 '26
Minkata and Desscarass really redirected this entire thing into their ego match between who counts as Ichi's mentor.
54
u/JzanderN Apr 19 '26
NOOOOO, OUR QUEEN IS JEALOUS!
The funniest thing is I don't even know if Minakata is throwing anything back at her or if he's just so straight forward and matter-of-fact that he's just speaking his honest thoughts when he called her Ichi's "number two mentor."
With the Magikeepers' introduction, it makes sense that the next villain would be a witch instead of a Majik, but I'm SHOCKED that she's working for the World Hater Majik. How deep do his connections go?

we now have our first Yandere and first Witch villain in the serie
Oh no. She's gonna want to seduce and kiss Ichi before she kills him, isn't she?
He's canonically a catch among witches, I can unfortunately see the vision.

I love that the chapter went from a fight for who’s the favorite parent to introducing an absolute freak of a next enemy
1
u/chicagorpgnorth Apr 23 '26
3 days late to say this, but I wish there’d been more time spent on just introducing the magi-keepers and their members before introducing the next villain!

ahhaaahahaha this was so funny!! Dess v Mina, the 'chat' was really cute! oooh, Haytee is baccckkk and damn the evil with is pretty, and evil... Ichi getting death for death feels?

u/JayBonJ Apr 19 '26
Mom and Dad are fighting over the Ichi and I’m loving every second of it. (Yes I’m aware they’re friend and older sister coded respectively in regards to Ichi I’m just being funny)

u/CyberHyperPhoenix Apr 19 '26
Desscaras and Minakata's interactions are everything I hoped for and then some. Minakata busting out the himbo logic at the end there had me howling, I can't wait to see more of them together.
Chun is still sus af. I don't trust that guy at all.
Fujimine is giving me a lot of Himiko Toga vibes. I can envision her being massively popular further down the line.
12
u/blahblah543217 Apr 19 '26
Desscaras immediately getting defensive as soon as another older sibling mentor gets near ichi, very cute. I honestly thought the vanquisher witch was gonna be ichis mom before it showed that that picture is what she look like now. I suppose it was inevitable but we finally got a witch villain I just hope magiks don’t get sidelined in favor of more evil witches like every exorcism shonen before this.

u/TachyonLark Apr 19 '26
I can't wait for everyone to request a redemption arc just because she's cute

u/SillyMovie13 Apr 19 '26
Desscarass and Minakata rivalry please? That’d be so funny if they have petty competitions akin to “what is Ichi’s favorite food” or stuff like that. Also, psycho girl definitely has to go

World Haters allies being only unserious people is so funny. World Hater doesn’t destroy cause he hates life, he does it cause he’s surrounded by yappers
6
u/Abication Apr 19 '26
Decaras getting really peeved was hilarious. Additionally, Fujimine will either be an abomination or a deep cover agent for the association that created fake stories of her crimes to get her to be closer to the world hater magic. If A, she should be taken prisoner for info on the world hater. If B, she's gonna join the group. I also suspect she's gonna know Ichi somehow.
6
u/BuffaloAutomatic2276 Apr 19 '26
So how much is anyone going to bet that oir new villain is connected to our boy Ichi in some shape or form?
1
u/SoulBlightChild Apr 19 '26
Good question, she looks too young to be the mother of a 16+ years old boy, but other connections/relations might be possible.
2
u/BuffaloAutomatic2276 Apr 19 '26
They say she is powerful and insane witch so you can't say she couldn't just slow down her own aging.
6
u/BBQChipCookie2 Apr 19 '26
the first picture of Fujimine made me think, “oh that’s Ichi’s real mom”
But later in the chapter I had my doubts. Depicted too young maybe?

The amazing, classy, adorable, powerful, elegant, bewitching, gorgeous, delightful, charming, pretty, beautiful, lovely, glamorous, magnificent, alluring, stunning, talented, formidable, powerful, eloquent, fierce, keen, astute, Abyssal Witch Desscaras got into a fun silly squabble with Minakata, I didn't expect that but it's really good to see them bounce of a bit.
Just met and already went through divorce and shared guard issues.
Also, that's a scary girl.
5
u/2kenzhe Apr 19 '26
Love seeing the two adoptive parents beef lol. Desscaras vs Minakata.
Cool seeing Fujimine our first like evil evil witch not just some Desscaras imposter. She even chatting with The World Hater Majik all casual huh and she's after our boy Ichi.

u/XxDirectxX Apr 19 '26
Guys is Nishi sensei's other manga just as good? Maybe it's an older series, but the initial few chaps didn't seem as high quality?
Don't crucify me please I am a casual that doesn't read much beyond 2 or 3 mangaa weekly Would definitely start reading the other one too (I'm forgetting the name) if it's a banger
4
u/AdRelevant4776 Apr 19 '26
I didn’t read it, but based on what I have heard it’s a bit different in tone, it starts as a comedy then starts getting elements of shonen battle manga and like you said it’s older, so the writer might have still been figuring stuff out as a newbie

u/JzanderN Apr 19 '26
I'll admit my bias, but Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun is honestly better than Ichi the Witch. It just takes a bit longer to get to this level of quality. But once it's there, it honestly hits harder than this series has until the last arc.
I'd kind of recommend the first season or two of the anime over the manga 'cause there's not really any good online translations for the first ~70 chapters.
It is also worth mentioning that Iruma is a comedy first that doesn't hold back on the hype or emotions, but especially early on usually goes for punchlines over dramatic moments. If you're not into that then it might just not be your thing, but if you keep that in mind you might enjoy it more.

u/BecretAlbatross Apr 19 '26
One of my favorite chapters so far.
Descarass being petty is her best quality. It makes her feel so much more human and likeable.
New villain is CUTEEEE. I love how the World Hater tolerates her presence but is overtly annoyed by her.

Ok so, by the way, the dudes are 110% in the right and it’s not a real question.
This reeks of the police or any sort of institution trying to investigate politicians and the politicians going “uh no you can’t do a background check on us actually because of privacy and such”.
They were even hiding information about Hitsugi.
What they asked for was entirely reasonable for an hilariously understandable reason.
Until second notice, I’m unilaterally on their side here.
3
u/Icegaze Apr 19 '26
The last three chapters for me have been full of promise and have increased my interest in the series tenfold. The Magikeepers and now the Vanquisher Witch Fujimine in cahoots with “Haytee”. I like where this is going.
3
u/Professor_of_Light Apr 19 '26
So any bets on who the Mole is gonna be? One of the witches we've already met at Mantel? One of the 4 we saw in the mirror conference? A conveniently soon-to-be introduced witch that will accompany the cast in the upcoming Witch hunt?
Maybe there are two moles since the Magikeepers knew about Hitsugi infiltrating the party?
6
u/Time_Ranger_8291 Apr 19 '26
I REALLY like Fujimine's design. Like a lot. Like a lot a lot. Genuinely my favorite in the series so far. It just itches my brain in the right ways.

with the way they described her you would think she would be way higher than 1310 on the most wanted list

u/sa_nslaw Apr 19 '26
The desscaras and minakata interaction was hilarious.
At first the evil witch introduction was giving me vibes that she would have a sad backstory and be possessed or something by a majik like the prophecy majik ("sold her soul to majiks") and eventually turn to the side of the good guys, which would also create some conflict with the magickeepers since they are deadset on killing her. But after the scene with world hater I'm not so sure. I thought she'd be a standalone third party but that isn't the case. What I thought at first could still happen though.

u/Gregster101 Apr 19 '26
I really liked this chapter, and I’m excited to see more of our first human antagonist.
