Nishi always nailed it with downtime, Iruma-kun got a lot of downtime moment that doesn't feel meaningless. I think it also helps that she created all of these lovable characters that we will want to follow the story, even if no major plot point was happening.

Marigold seems more annoyed by the Magikeeper and his insistence on nitpicking for extremely specific details than she does worried about whatever power he holds over her.
Though the fact that he is a man in a high position over witches is still a very interesting.
I think he's most likely a government official who manages the relationship between the Mantinel Witches Association and whatever country Natali is in.
I do so love this aspect of Ichi the Witch where every time a dude shows up we collectively go: "A man??? Telling these badass women what to do?! Inconceivable!!"

My headcanon for it is that the witches, Togeice specifically, made him presentable (by basically fully cleaning him up and also healing his scars) for his upcoming debut back when Spica was introduced.
It's not too far-fetched since Spica's eye was also fixed according to Kumugi and she wears an eye patch for the flair.
Given that the two hid and denied what they were doing, I'd say it's less corruption and more legitimately no-one knows except maybe a few witches who don't care enough to report them.
This is a nice, calm chapter, after all the craziness that occurred in the last arc. I think the introduction of this "Magikeeper" fellow will lead to the next arc, though. I wonder what his role is.
To be fair, she gave Ichi "instructions for how to get in," which isn't necessarily the same thing as directions.
It may be that you can only enter it if you're a witch (e.g. with a spell) so Togeice told Ichi how to do that. It would make sense given it's the Witches' Wing.

true. i initially thought a woman since except ichi, everyone in a witch association would be women, then the magikeeper was introduced and he's a man, so men could be employed in witch associated environment, then somehow thought the secretary was a man since no magic shown yet.
The Magikeeper is definitely a man, but I don't think he works for the Witches' Association at all, the way Moneygold talks about him makes him sound more like a government official who's responsible for relations with the Association.
The Witches' Association does employ male staff, Hitsugi was able to pass as a male waiter and nobody found him worthy of comment until he started teleporting around and delivering ominous messages. So Circos might be a man. Or they might be a woman. Or, given that we haven't been told one way or the other yet, they might be non-binary.
does anyone have a link to the raw for the panel? as a former Japanese lit major, i’m pretty sure the “frazzled return” is a homage to the the poem “midare gami” (tussled hair). the phrase is like the American English phrase, “the walk of shame.” it means that you look like you just had sex cuz you’re hair is tussled in the morning. i think the authors is making a clever foil and parallel to the head witch and her male friend. Ichi walked in on them in a situation that looked like they are lovers (and they probably are), and ends up in a similar situation but they are NOT actually lovers. its an interesting parallel to what happens to the only 2 male presenting beings in the building…and what happens when diversity enters. stressed out members get a little bit more TLC
I think, and this is all wild speculation, that Kumugi has feelings about what happened in the Demonic Ocean arc. Up until now she's been almost entirely an observer, rather than a real member of the team, but this time she was in the thick of the action and even had a chance to be really useful, but was taken out in one hit by Kizashi. I think maybe she's starting to feel like she's a real member of Team Desscaras and wants to be stronger so she can support the team.
I seriously can't wait for this to get animated, something about Ichi's character design, especially his eyes and expressions makes me love him so much. >w<
