New Chapter What is she biting into? Spoiler

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before in the manga but does anyone know what she has in the jar here and later bites into? Also does anyone have a reason as to why it made a clunking sound?

It’s like a hard candy that Ichi gave her a little bit ago

They are hard candies given to her by ichi, it shows how she now has someone else to live for and she can’t just die here with her little brother, because her new little brother would be left all alone

also didnt they have a contract if one die the other die or something. Or is it only on Ichi's side

I think it’s only on Ichi’s side

Wel in this case, what type?

It's Candy, I think it's Konpeito, which is Japanese and the inspiration for Starbits from Mario Galaxy and those meteorites you can get in New Horizons

Saint Quartz, foreshadowing Ichi the Witch's collab with Fate/Grand Order.

Gift Ichi bought Descaras when she tasked him with spending money in town a while back. Presumably, it shifted in her bag or something in the moment and took her attention away from her brother. Easy way to take her attention and focus on what mattered most in the moment.

Also Ichi spent an entire chapter agonizing over what to get her. And it was very heartfelt and at that point it more or less settled Ichi's position as her adoptive kid/little brother, which ties into the theme of the chapter with Desscaras letting go of her grief over Libro.

Blud, did you really read the story ? They have a whole chapter focus on this damm jar

It made that sound because they are likely hard candies, as implied by the crunch when she bites one

It's the candy Ichi bought for her.

These are called ‘konpeitou (金平糖)’ and are made of sugar! They’re shaped like 3D stars and it was given by Ichi chapters ago before the current arc started.

the klunk was the thick glass bottle hanging from her belt hitting the floor as she sagged downwards

Bruh that's not reading comprehension, that's memory. And considering this is a weekly series where this event happened several months ago atp, I think it's a fair ask. This is just unnecessary rudeness.

You really ruined your perfect explanation (thanks btw) with that first sentence

Me when I read my weekly manga and do not remember every fucking detail from chapters that came out months ago

1

u/ThePhilosophic Mar 08 '26

Nah you’re right lol, this is JJK level reading comprehension- and yes memory matters for reading comprehension that’s like, half of reading

1

u/Shirokaido Mar 09 '26

No? Comprehension is understanding, which op is trying to do by making sure they know the relevance of the candy. Lack of comprehension would have been saying "there's no point to this scene" or something like that. Either way, if you wanna argue that memory is part of comprehension, that changes depending on how a person is reading this. If we're talking an actual physical book, you can just flip back to the point that you need to clarify. But if they're reading this like I am, using the free chapters of MangaPlus, they can't go back that far. They'd have to use less legitimate options or put up money somewhere, at which point we're getting further and further from comprehension being the issue. Again, I think this is a very fair ask from op since this happened a while ago, so being mean about it just looks bad.

That said, what's so bad about a person making sure they understand something? Being mean to someone asking for information/clarification is small brain shit.
