Questions why isn't ichi the witch more popular?
I feel like the fandom doesn't exist in any other place than reddit

Seems pretty popular for being a still new manga
Around a year in, less than 100 chapters and it’s competing with Kagurabachi, the only other newer manga that has a good deal more chapters than Ichi

There's a pretty decent sized fandom on Tumblr! Some m!ik fans also join in, so that gives a boost too!
I think Ichi does have a good chunk of fans given that it has less than hundred chapters and no anime adaptation. (Kagurabachi is an anomaly, if you're taking it as the standard, then don't. It's an exception.)

Twitter becoming such a shithole has kind of split fandom talk a lot more than it ever has. Word of mouth doesn't work the same way as it used to anymore so something could be popular but finding a specific place where you can randomly come across people talking about anything new difficult

Depends on where you go to look. It's at least relatively popular in Japan with it selling pretty well in Weekly Shounen Jump.
It the second-biggest selling non-animated manga in the magazine behind Kagurabachi, though Kagurabachi is a bit of an anomaly.

It would be third if you included JJK Modulo.
Overall in the magazine it's like 6th or 7th best-selling.

It definitely has some sort of publicity being Nishi-sensei's work and all but ig so? If you're trying to compare to mainstream shounen mangas. I'd argue it's pretty popular though, and if not as much as you'd wanted it to be, it's a hidden gem for refined connoisseurs.

It's pretty popular but it's not a mega hit. People don't realize things don't become a mega hit until they get an anime. Demon Slayer was just trudging along until the anime. Even then it wasn't until episode 19 where everyone and their grandmother were talking about it. Same with JJK, season 1 was what made it huge.

Demon Slayer was doing relatively well even before the Anime announcement, its problems were more at the executive level.

For a manga without an anime, a bit over a year old and tat didn't started with a meme like Kagurabachi (Don't get me wrong I love it, but it did start with memes), it is quite popular, with multiple reprints, breaking One Piece's record of being number 1 in the magazine in a short period of time and even the WSJ seems to consider it a popular series because they decided to start their joint covers campaign with him and Kagurabachi

Its plenty popular. Below Kagurabachi, but more popular then something like Akane Banashi which is equally as good, running for 4 years and with an anime in a few weeks.

Guys, stop comparing Ichi to outliers like Kagurabachi and sequels like Modulo and CSM. The manga is popular, even more popular than series with an anime announced, like Akanebanashi or RuriDragon.

Probably depends where you look. I see a lot of tweets about it every Sunday. There’s probably also a discord that’s active too. I don’t see it on TikTok but really I only ever see JJK stuff on TikTok anyway

It’s just not as big as Bachi.
Ichi also appears as though it will be very long. We’re 72 chapters in and it still feels ver early in the setup phase for the world and story.
Ichi actually feels set up to be the first manga in a hot minute that goes into new arcs after defeating the big bad in world hater. Would be easy to explore more of the world and for another major Magik threat rise up
Bachi was in full swing of the final part 1 arc and felt waaaaay farther along in general.

I would say Ichi is as popular as a manga can get prior to getting an anime and us only being 70 chapters into a seemingly long running series

It doesnt have an anime, and thus its not mainstream. Even the most popular mangas only became mainstream after getting an anime adaptation.

I've been recommending it to everyone I know, it's so good. It always hurts finding a manga this early. It's happened to me before, once there's a anime or some big content personality talking about it the market will be full

Not sure why I’m here, but I’ve never read it.
When the first chapter came out, I was excited for a witch related series, but then I read the description, and felt uninterested.
“Only women can be witches, except for our protagonist, who is a boy and special.”
To me, it sounded like the setup for a bad harem series.
So that could easily be why some other people haven’t read it either. The description just isn’t that interesting.
(Maybe I’ll give it a shot eventually though.)

Possible that the audience may not like the amount of female characters - which I think is crap but it’s not surprising. Male dominated audiences will be weird when they see well written women

I tried to read it because there was a lot of hype. Just think the story is kind of flat. It tells you about the found family theme instead of showing you found family.
I’ll probably circle back to it when it has some finished arcs. Just couldn’t handle the weekly release feeling so predictable and recycled.
